Saints LB Allen out for 2006Associated Press
NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans Saints linebacker James Allen, coming off an injury-plagued 2005, now will miss the entire 2006 season after injuring himself during offseason workouts at the team's suburban training headquarters Wednesday.
Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said Allen was participating in non-contact drills when he ruptured his right patella tendon.
The injury requires surgery, which was performed the same day, Loomis said.
Allen played only three games in 2005, also because of knee problems. He was drafted out of Oregon State by New Orleans in the third round in 2002.
The 6-foot-2, 245-pound defender started nine games in 2004, making a career-high 51 tackles, along with two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
