    ... the Green Lantern.

But DC Comics is wussing out by choosing one of the other green lanterns, i.e. not Hal Jordan, to do this with. So they were full of crap when they promised it would be a "major character." The main Green Lantern will be unaffected.

We may now return to our regularly scheduled bickering.

I know this is going to open me up to all sorts of ridicule but what can I say? I read comics as a kid (and see just about all the comic book movies).

There are thousands of Green Lanterns in the universe, all belonging to the Green Lantern Corps, tasked with defending the universe from all sorts of evil monsters. Maybe even some of them are gay too ("them" meaning the other members of the Green Lantern Corps, not the "evil monsters" - although, come to think of it, I'm sure some of the evil monsters are gay as well).

There have been several human beings selected to be members of the Green Lantern Corps. The one we are most familiar with - and the one from the mediocre Green Lantern movie last year - is Hal Jordan. The other humans selected over the years have played a much smaller part and I honestly can say I don't remember any of their names.

It is one of these "other" human Green Lanterns who is now being reintroduced as a homosexual but, if I understand the article correctly, if you go to the comic book store and buy a "Green Lantern" comic or a "Justice League" comic, you'll be getting good ole' heterosexual Hal Jordan.

:bricks::bricks::bricks: Let the ridicule begin. :bricks::bricks::bricks:

There's been like 9 different gay Xmen for decades now and DC's got the stones to put their one measly gay 1/2 character on a pedestal?

DC, they're definitely the Republican comic book company.

DC's stones? Definitely seems like the same principled stones our President and Vice President mustered up now that they think it's safe to have any.

Nah, no ridicule -- from me, anyway. I think comic books are kind of cool now, though ive never been into them. I occasionally find myself near a comic book store in Santa Monica and usually will stop in just to browse a little and pick up a couple random things, like any other bookstore (that still exist, anyway).

I appreciate the answer -- I had no idea.

Timing. P and VP come out in support of gay marriage and DC comics brings a hero out of the closet....a cynical view perhaps but "stones" wouldn't be the description I'd use regardless. Real stones would have been to do this long before now.

You mean like you do when you happen upon a thread you find useless? LOL...

It's interesting that the one (1) topic you go into great detail about, showing your vast knowledge and an actual logical thought process is the make-believe world of super heroes in tights.

If only you showed the same insight and point-by-point analysis in actual topics that matter, you wouldn't be such an easy mark.

lol... that's not even it, dude. I know you need to think that.

It's just that you'e not a very likable individual, and when you post, it's usually ripe for cross examination. ... I enjoy commenting on your efforts here, and usually log off laughing. ... at you and how hopeless you are with your consistently horrible argument.

But whatever bull**** response you give, you gotta admit: It's really an awesome contrast between a topic you know much of anything about, and those you're just faking your way through.

I'm just happy that - for you - it's superheroes. And whether or not they're gay.

Keep faking your way through the rest of it. We love that you're here.

Why the hell should we ridicule you? First of all, it might have been 30 -40 years ago, but I'm a comic book geek too, and secondly, there's not one darned piece of misinformation here -- in fact, I am certain you understand the above story lines to be fictional!

That said -- is it a good thing or a bad thing that the Green Lantern Corps repealed their "Xk'chlatz Xk'lamagliz" (Don't ask, don't tell) policy?

It is unconscionable if 10% of the Green Lantern Corps is defending our freedom under the constant threat of outing.

~2.8% of Green Lantern corps could be outed you mean.

Anyway, who they picked is kind of insulting. He's an "alternate Earth" character (not from the "main" DC universe) and he has a weakness to... wood.
