A word of thanks from North Korea; bills itself as U.S. partner 'against terrorism'

In an extremely rare public expression, North Korea officially thanked the United States for helping the crew of a North Korean cargo ship hijacked by pirates off the Somali coast late last month, describing the rescue as a symbol of Washington-Pyongyang rapprochement.

A U.S. Navy boarding team from the USS James E. Williams heads toward a N. Korean-flagged vessel to help crew members wounded in a battle with pirates off the coast of Somalia, on Oct. 30. AP/U.S. Navy

"We feel grateful to the United States for its assistance given to our crewmen. This case serves as a symbol of the DPRK [North Korea]-U.S. cooperation in the struggle against terrorism," the North's state-run Korean Central News Agency said.

Seven pirates, "disguised as guards," boarded the North Korean vessel on Oct. 29 and demanded that the sailors pay them $15,000.

Guess you do not know the 11th commandment:

    11. Thou shall not use the revered name or lyrics of one Robert Zimmerman in any post to justify a religious rant..Bobby does not like this.

    .

    :wha: "religious rant"???

It appears that this is a report on how the (officially atheistic/agnostic) state of North Korea has offered her appreciation and gratitude toward the U.S. for saving their butts from high seas pirates. Did anyone see any reference to "religion" in that story?? Any "ranting" going on in that story????

(Hint: Making wild accusations like this only hurts the accuser's credibility, no one else.)

In any case, Mr. Zimmerman, being a religious seeker himself, has given me blanket approval to use any of his lyrics for the furtherance of God's will. Go ahead and ask him!!

    :D

"Peaise God" is a religious rant because the phrase is disconnected from the rest of the post. Prasing God seems to be reserved for when things go surprisingly well. You never hear a religionist say "Screw you, God" when things go unexpectedly wrong. For instance, where was God when the children were dying of malnutrition in North Korea or war was raging there in the 1950's?

That's the religious rant part, I think.

"And there will come a day when some will say it is 'offensive' to use the name of God in public, and when such a day arrives be assured the end of the world as we have known it has arrived."

"And God told Noah to build an ark for the people were wicked beyond compare, so much that God repented that he had made man, and God would cleanse the wickedness from the earth. And God told Noah to build the ark that he and his family and all the blameless creatures might live. And Noah built the ark and was saved and all the wicked perished."

So, are we all descendants from incestuous relationships within Noah's family?

Tell that to the billions who believe, from virtually every race and culture in the world; all have a "flood story" in their historical teachings.

Now, even some in the hard science community are saying that there was a cataclysmic flood event some many thousands of years ago.

    The truth is upon us!!

I didn't mean to scare you, but I thought you could handle that much of the truth. But, in any case, it doesn't mean that the world is going to be destroyed; it means that the EVIL in the world is going to be washed away. Then goodness can take its rightful place. Good news, everybody!

Yeah. It wiped out the dinosaurs!
Why didn't Noah have a male and female velociraptor or T-Rex on the ark?

Science pretty much agrees that a sizable chunk of something hit the earth -- probably an asteroid landing around the Yucatan -- and caused such a massive dust cloud which led to global cooling so that almost all life forms, including most dinosaurs, were annihilated. The floods hit many/most parts of the world millions of years later.

If you think you understand him , you probably do not most of what he does and his so called phases are all ruses...

Everything you do is related to your religious beliefs... so everything you post has a religious bent, thus it is a religious rant.

i'm not sure what's creepier.... Fog using Dylan lyrics, or Fog preeching to us all about soft openings and straight poles....

there's something really "al gore"-like when a guy like Fog attempts to be hip and/or progressive...

Everybody talks from their world view. I'm no exception and neither are you.

    Which one is accurate?

Do not understand the question, as not sure what the choices are you offered.

I am influenced by what happens in this world and my personal experience, however most of what I think and do is based on all things converging.. but getting back to Dylan as being sometype of religious messenger is as far from the truth as anyone can get. If you listen closely to his Modern Times Album, the best in 10+ years, he has not changed any of his views, because we really do not know what his views are.. once people think they understand Bobby then he changes again.
