In case you only read the NY Times......

    http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/433227p-364959c.html

They were "spying" on them! quick call Ted Kennedy this must be stopped! I'm sure that their "rights" were violated!

Unbelievable! the "Paper of Record" has nothing about it....

But you can read about the horrendous treatement of some Algerian at the bloody hands of the US! Incredible! Is anyone at eht newspaper even an AMerican?

The ACLU is on line 1 for you. They wish to defend these "freedom fighters"' rights as they were clearly violated.

How dare we interrupt their scheme!

They have waited a year to release this terror plot that was foiled, just in time for midterm elections, brilliant strategy.

Actually they didn't release it, it was a 'leak' irresponsibly printed by the press. The jerks in the press managed to upset an ongoing investigation and make Foreign Security services less likely to work with us. The FBI guy at the news conf was Pi***d about it.

A lot of the operations shouldn't be made public. But the press doesn't give a **** about our security.

Congrats for the ongoing work by the people keeping us safe.

That's of course good news. I heard on the radio that they were tracked down through internet chat rooms. If that's true, then it goes to show you that we don't need to trample on the Constitution and our rights in order to hunt down terrorists. Of course, we'll have to wait for more news.

As far as the New York Times goes, my guess is FTW posted an early morning edition cover, printed before the story broke. The story now appears on the NYT home page.

There are 5 guys they are looking for since the story is now public it will be more difficult to find them.

Another great hob by the main stream media. /scarcasm

patsfan13, Isn't it possible that the information was leaked:
    - to help boost the administration's popularity
    - to help Republicans
    - to heighten awareness
    - to attempt to lure the suspects out of hiding
    - as a means of launching further attacks on the press
    - because of a split in thinking in our intelligence services as how best to proceed
    - as a means of warning the public
    - as a means of scaring other terrorists
    - as a means of tracking down leaks in the intelligence community
    ?

It's also possible it was an irresponsible leak, but that's only one of many reasonable possibilities.

Frankly it is unlikly. There are 5 suspects if they are caught now it is not a + for the administration. The NK missle deal is not a negative for the administration why take the spotlight off that. If the leak is for partisan political puposes leak it after Labor Day when the camppign is in full swing.

The tracking down leaks could be a valid point. They busted Mary Mc Carthy this way. Then there is the isue of finding the leakers in the Swift situation and comms monitoring program.

In my view this is a continuation of the reckless behavior by the media.

Also Patters it does no good to let the bad guys know we got onto them by monitoring chat rooms in arabic. They will now change their means of communication, making the job of protecting us that much more difficult.

    Putting On My Moderator's Hat

Please avoid personal attacks. I know everyone does it every now and then, but we're starting to reach critical mass again, when all hell breaks loose. Please help prevent that from happening.

I thought it is rather disingenuous for FTW to single out New York Times without also mentioning that the following NY-based newspapers did not have any article about the terrorist plot to blow up the Holland tunnel:

Right-wing Wall Street Journal did not have any article

Right-wing New York Post did not have any article

Newsday did not have any article

AM New York did not have any article

Is anyone at the NY Post even an American???

Oops ... I forgot, the Post is owned by Australians.

We're winning...we're winning!! For all we know, this could be like the Sami Al Arian case. He was acquitted after being held on "terrorism" charges for years BTW.

The fact that NYC's 'lefty' newspaper had this story but decided to sit on it to avoid intefering with what could be a critical investigation is getting lost in the flame fest. Thank you paper of record!! I guess not all left-leaning organizations can be lumped in with NAMBLA.

Mr :bricks: :rocker: is gonna be so disappointed.

Now if the Times could just make their crossword puzzle the least bit challenging:D

Its possible that Rove leaked this to muck with the elections. Its also possible that some intern did it to impress his girlfriend.
