Analyst eyes Vollmer as breakout candidate

Light at LT
Vollmer at RT (for this season)
Kaczur for depth.
If Vollmer gets hurt, Kaczur goes to RT. If Light gets hurt, Vollmer moves to LT and Kaczur moves into the RT spot. In no way should Kaczur be guarding TB's blind side.

Simple. Vollmer at LT and we trade Light (a very competent LT) for one of the best pure RTs in the game.

Re: Analysts Eyes Vollmer as Breakout Candidate

I've been sold on Vollmer since his stupid little workout tape preseason.

Same here, he was my adopted rookie:) Agree also that he broke out already; Beastly:rocker:

Re: Analysts Eyes Vollmer as Breakout Candidate

Get the tapes. Looks like he's trying to play pattycakes, but Mathis doesn't want to play, he just wants to run around him and get the QB.

That's because Kaczur is not that good. I expect Vollmer will start in front of him at RT. If Neal gets hurt, I can see Kaczur coming in at RG before Connolly. I've said it since the offseason started, but I'll say it again. Here's how I see the starting O-Line shaking out on opening day (assuming Mankins signs his tender)...

Re: Analysts Eyes Vollmer as Breakout Candidate

Light isnt a RT and never will be. BB has said this many times. Vollmer is good enough to play both so he will play RT this season is my guess

I thought he came out of college as a right tackle.
So the only line position he can play is LT?
Because I just read on this board that he'd never be a guard per BB.
Certainly couldn't be a center.
I would so much rather have Vollmer protecting TB's blind side than Light.
I just wiki'd it and you're right, Joe. Light protected Drew Brees from the LT position.
I would still prefer Vollmer over there, though.

Beautiful. Good starting line, and not bad depth. I really wish we had an upgrade over Koppen though.

I actually don't think Koppen is as bad as his "haters" make him out to be.
