Why so many DT's in the draft????
new defensive scheme.
Tom Jackson on ESPN says it's because BB loves watching round fully developed young bodies in the shower.
I thought they all hate him though?
a 4 man line of Sey-Fork-Brace -Warren might be tough to run against if they should choose to mix in that alignment
We took all we could to keep them away from the rest of the league! We are hoping a few of them are over 6' and can cover....
and in goal line stands
That's part of his fetish.

Just In Case:
Someone gets hurt
We cant resign Wilfork
Seymour's play drops off
Anyones play drops off
One of these guys is better than what we have, and cheaper
Theres no guarantee any of these guys stick anyway
Green's contract is ending. LeKevin Smith and company need some competition. No real BIG body behind Wilfork.
Should really read up on Brace. He and Raji combined to make the best run stopping defense in the country. Hoping for 3rd down situtions he can do the same with Wilfork.
Depth and backup.
will one because its all was good to have a deep DL not to many player play a full 16 game NFL season and 2 because willfork and seymor are both FA next yer in a uncaped season the money that dose 2 will get if they hit the open market they will be abel to buy there own NFL team lol
Wilfork wont be leaving, i have other beliefs about Sey though. I think he already has one foot out the door.
It seems that if we were so worried about the contact situation of Green and Seymour, we would have drafted a DE. Certainly Jenkins and Michael Johnson were within easy reach. I suspect that we will just see how many DE's we need to draft next year.
Belichick does like to give his starting NT a rest if he can, and have someone available who can be a true backup at NT. We used to have Traylor. We then drafted Kareem Brown. There have been various efforts. NT's are difficult to come by.
The solution has been to have almost everyone be able to backup at NT.
Belichick saw the opportunity to get a quality backup in Brace and took it. Brace is also Wilfork insurance against injury or contract issues.
Having gotten this far in their reasoning, it wasn't a long reach to view the Brace position as potentially very valuable to the team, and to consider late round draftees as Practice Squad possibilities. And as a long shot, one of them might beat on Smith for a roster spot, but that would mean that the player could potentially backup at both DE and NT.
Maybe he sees Brace as being able to play both DE and DT?
Maybe to keep Seymour and Wilfork from having to take too many reps in TC?
Maybe a plan to confuse opponents by mixing in a 4-3 this year? Think back to '01, the Pats would constantly shift from a 3-4 to a 4-3.
Maybe he was just taking the Best Player Available that fit the Pats's system?
Maybe he has the feeling that somebody on the DL won't be back in 2010?
To be fair Warren and Seymour were DT's in college. FWIW. He likes to convert outwards
No true NT behind Wilfork. At least one of the later DT's is likely to project to DE. Green is probably gone after this year, possibly Seymour too. Plan ahead, groom for the future. These guys can learn behind the studs and will hopefully be ready to go when we need them.
It almost seems like they could have a clown car full of these guys now...
Belichick always says you can never have enough lineman.
And your pushing hard....
My guess is that Brace is seen as a serious contributor who they hope will sub in for Wilfork on a few plays and if they are lucky will develop into a real alternative if Wilfork's contract doesn't work out.
Pryor looks more like a player they want to have a look at in camp and they will let him earn a spot on the practice squad if he does enough.
