People, here's some advice: if you need a video game to get in shape you're doing it completely wrong. At least the fatties in the Navy are supposed to stay on their ships, but one wonders how much they're costing taxpayers in fuel costs?

It's still a shameful state of affairs in our country. I understand the military is genuinely concerned about having a large enough pool of fit candidates within the next 20 years. Even if we alter our foreign policy in such a way that we can cut back on our military size, we're still going to have problems.

Not all of them. Probably not even a majority of them. It's mainly subs and carriers.

How come no one ever talks about the "legacy costs" of the Military:confused::confused::confused:

Guess that only applies to auto workers...

I love the fact that you all can come on in here and bash our military, on Memorial Day weekend no less, with the whole "I hate wars and I support the troops" motif but use mechanisms like this to cast negatives on our troops.

I'm pretty sure that this is a "I hate the pool of Americans 18-25 that make up the possible recruits for the US military" thread! Just so you're clear on where "the troops" starts and stops.:americaflag:

Right -- "newcomers to military service" denotes possible recruits. I'd think if I can recently entered miliary service I was no longer a recruit. Nice spin there. So they're not "real" soldiers yet?

Not if you wash out of boot camp, duders.

But f*ck it, I don't even support the troops so whatever.

How is lamenting the obesity problem in this country casting negatives on our troops?
