If you are going to sponsor a bill that allows handguns into bars it's probably not a good idea to drive drunk with a loaded handgun.

15 views and no comments? This isn't about Republicans or Democrats.

It's about an idiot who drove drunk with a loaded handgun and wants handguns to be allowed into establishments that serve alcohol.

IMO his bill will pass even though he is the poster child for not allowing guns into bars.

He drove drunk (throw the book at him). What did the gun have to do with that?

I guess I'm missing the point.

Even in Tennessee you can't be in possession of a firearm if you have been drinking. Booze and guns don't mix.

He's got it backward. First, you go to the range, spend too much money on ammo, THEN you case your guns, lock em up, and crack a beer and talk politics. That is how it was done in NH when I lived there...man I miss it.

What does that have to do with bringing a handgun into a place that serves alcohol?

Believe it or not, there is crime in America.

"Bad guys" can do whatever they want as they are breaking the law. I haven't heard of a killing at a bar. Do you want people packing heat at a bar?

Because even good guys with alcohol on board can quickly turn into bad guys.

It's kind of doing themselves a favor if they leave the gun at home, isn't it?

Do you really think the Hells Angels leave their gun home when they drink, can you just picture a Crip or a Blood going into a bar without their Glock.

Do you really think Hells Angels and Crips and Bloods hang out at the friendly neighborhood bar? Unless it's "their" neighborhood bar. And I highly doubt you'd be found hanging out there with any of them, Harry.

There were two after-hour bars in NW Indiana where I lived. Both catered to the bikers in the area - as well as assorted other people who just didn't want to quit drinking when the other bars closed. Both of them had strict policies forbidding colors being worn. Both of them had metal detectors and a pat-down when you walked in.

No guns. None. No knives. None. Not allowed. Pool cues and bare knuckles occasionally permitted.

Well, here is the google result for night club shooting:
    Google

I watch Albany news, and there are weekly troubles like that there outside of clubs.
