Remember the question of how can anyone hate the war, but love the troops.. here is an excellent example how.. despite all the word play and idiotic semantical arguments it can be done..

Troops, Franken honored at USO gala - Army News, opinions, editorials, news from Iraq, photos, reports - Army Times

His "Frisco Friends" won't like this one, he must be getting advice from James Carville & Soros, Franken Fans despise the Military.

Good for Franken................ I still think he's a tool, politically speaking, but doing good things for the troops should always be commended.

Franken has been terrific in supporting the troops over the years. He's well respected on a lot of the milblogs I've read. This is an example of where a line can be met, between opposing policy, but supporting individuals. Good work Al!

Unfortunately some folks are so tied up in partisan thinking they cannot see this or what he has done... it is what it is, commitment to the vets..

Franken's a vet himself and kudos to him for being such an advocate for the troops. As he said:

I respect that Al has devoted so much time over the last 10 years, but I cannot find any information that supports he is a veteran. Do you have a reference for that? No trying to sharpshoot you bud, I just like to know that stuff for my own knowledge base.

For instance Pat Sajak is a Vietnam Vet, a lot of folks don't know that.

Stephen Colbert is getting ready to do his USO tour...maybe I'll get a chance to see that one, it would be pretty cool.

Someone who doesn't get enough credit for his contributions to the USO is Vince McMahon. If you like or dislike, the whole fake wrestling thing, they are always coming over to see us. Vince foots a lot of the bill to bring equipment etc over to perform shows, and they always have a performer on the tours. Very cool and he keeps it low key.

LOL I saw that Colbert's heading over "somewhere where there's sand". Didn't know about Mcmahon either- the ones who don't broadcast their good things all over the place must do it just because they truly want to, not for the glory. Dennis Miller's a big advocate too-I think he's got a website called usacares.org or something like that.

Thank you for your service to us, I wish you well and hope you check in whenever you can! Godspeed to you and all.

    Appreciate it, Thank you!

I try to catch him on AFN when possible, he's crazy. I saw in Stars and Stripes today that he won the Space Station room naming contest, wonder is NASA is going to follow through with it.
