INJURY REPORT:
Feb 24 2006 - CB Ahmed Plummer was released after playing just nine games since receiving $11 million in guaranteed money from a contract he signed in 2004. Plummer missed 10 games in 2004 with a neck injury. He missed the final 13 games of his 49ers career after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to remove bone chips from his left ankle. The 49ers opted to release Plummer rather than pay him the $5.5 million in salary he was scheduled to earn in 2006.
Jan 20 2006 - CB Ahmed Plummer, who entered the season as the starter, never returned to action after undergoing what was described at the time as minor surgery to clean bone chips out of his ankle. The club perceives Plummer as someone who has little desire to play football. He almost certainly will be released in the off-season because of a hefty contract for the coming season.
Dec 28 2005 - CB Ahmed Plummer (left ankle) will not play in the season finale. He played only three games this season before undergoing arthroscopic surgery to remove bone chips in late September.
Dec 14 2005 - CB Ahmed Plummer (left ankle) will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to remove bone chips in late September.
Dec 8 2005 - CB Ahmed Plummer is 50-50 to play again this season, coach Mike Nolan said. He received a second opinion on his left ankle this week in Florida, and the doctor concurred with the 49ers' doctors, Nolan said. Plummer is bothered by inflammation in his ankle. He will miss his 10th game of the season on Sunday.
Dec 7 2005 - CB Ahmed Plummer (left ankle) is doubtful for Sunday's game. He has missed nine games after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to remove bone chips in late September.
