AFC East Divison Champion Race: The situation

If Miami wins out, won't they win the division?

As upstater1 said, yup.

Reason being, they'd have a common games tiebreaker advantage over the Pats and Jets. They'd be 7-1 in the 8 common games.

(Again, I exclude the division games due to the fact they'd all have to be 4-2 in the East anyways to put the common game tiebreaker into effect)

The only good news I see in your list is that we look good to win a tiebreaker with the Dolphins.

Unfortunately, if we look at the standings tonight, the Fish won't be our problem. The Colts beat us head to head but I guess we can console ourselves that the Ravens have the Redskins and Cowboys to play. Nonetheless, the bottom line is that even winning out won't assure us of a place in the Playoffs at 11--5.

I'm not ready to throw in the towel by any means, but I am painfully aware we have had three chances to secure our fate against three quality teams in the last month and we have lost them all (Colts, Jets and Steelers).

Keep hope alive...

The Jets and this game will come back to bite us... San Diego , could have been had , if Cassel was the cassel playing now.. if we win out that means a 7-5 conference record.. The jets now need to lose 2 games, Miami 1 ... Im not worried about Baltimore, Baltimore should lose 3 out 4 , Dallas , Wash and Pitt.. Jax it all depends..

But here is a realistic senerio...

Pats and Dolphins win the rest of the games.. The Jets have the division locked up.. colts have the other wild card.. The Dolphins need to win that game against the jets and they are in.. 1pm, we beat Buffalo and need the jets to beat Miami.. Now dont you think The jets and Mangini would love to be in that postion...

Could the jest hypothetically loose the Miami game to keep us out of the playoffs?

And then they still get in?

We need to win out to even be guaranteed to make the post season, Arizona could light up our secondary.

Denver (7-5) - vs KC, @ CAR, vs BUF, @ SD - 2-2
Indianapolis (8-4) - vs CIN, vs DET, @ JAX, vs TEN - 4-0
Baltimore (8-4) - vs WAS, vs PIT, @ DAL, vs JAX - 1-3
New England (7-5) - @ SEA, @ OAK, vs ARI, @ BUF - 4-0
Miami (7-5) - @ BUF (neutral), vs SF, @ KC, @ NYJ - 1-3
Buffalo (6-6) - vs MIA (neutral), @ NYJ, @ DEN, vs NE - 0-4

1. Tennessee 14-2
2. Pittsburgh 12-4
3. New York 11-5

Bot sure about Miami at 1-3...I think that could change..I agree Balt will be gone...but Maimi?? Where are the tiebreakers there??

if we win out and NY drops one to eiter the Bills or Miami then, at an 11-5 tie, would we have the Division tie-breaker by common opponents due to the Jets loss yesterday to Denver?

Jeff Healey throwing to Ray Charles could light up our secondary.
