That must be why he was warming the bench in Arizona
He's not a cover 2 safety. He's going to play mostly rover/SS.

How can you not be excited with this signing? Remember the SB safety tandem? He can't be any worse than Patrick Chung in coverage. 2x Wilson, McCourty, Gregory is a very solid unit. Forget about the CB play last season the Safetys were worse. Finally a vet in this secondary. Now get Talib and maybe this year the secondary could really improve.
I agree, though the monetary implications will probably have Gregory be cut after the end of next season in 2014 instead.Hopefully this pushes Steve Gregory off the roster.
Well sure, but if he's not a whole lot better, then that's a major problem. The Pats need to get better in coverage at the safety position. If Wilson isn't that guy, then they either need someone else or they need to bank on Tavon Wilson improving.
We'll see. According to statistics he was quite good in coverage and more important is that finally you have someone with experience in the back. I'm not the only one who thinks so because he signed to a 3 years contract. For his age BB must really see something in him.
Hm, looks like the FS/SS model isn't dead after all.
If he's going to play the true hard hitting blitzing safety role we had better get some coverage LBs or ask Tavon Wilson to play Safety/LB over Spikes or Hightower.
I don't know what statistics you're talking about, but he was subbed for on passing downs for a reason, and it probably wasn't his brilliant pass defense showing up the rest of the team.
So, that makes two defensive backs named Wilson. Geno Capelletti is going to be confused. He does not approve!
Belichick must have taken him to the Ground Round.
Who's replacing Gil Santos? Tanguay?
You know who wasn't very good in coverage? Rodney Harrison.
They might still draft one (I hope they do). Doubt we see a pick used on WR if the Sanders reports are true and all the moves already made there. So I could see us drafting a CB, OL, DL, and S with S/CB still being the priorities there. CB may also get checked off if Talib or another premier CB is re-signed.
I see Wilson as a 1-2 year stopgap and upgrade to Gregory (which I'd be satisfied with)
