I think he dismisses the lack of CB depth with his comments of the fact that Randall Gay and Troy Brown were once CBs on the field at the time of the SB years,in general he is saying whatever players BB putsthere plays adequately to overcome lack of depth.

    I like this:

"Biggest Weakness: Inside Linebacker — Tedy Bruschi and Mike Vrabel have slowed down and Junior Seau is their backup."

The team needs more perceived slights, and this ought to be enough to get Bruschi, Vrabel, Seau, and Harrison going. Keep the articles coming . . .

Oddly, that's the precise point in the article when I laughed and closed the browser window.

Exactly, me too. Kinda lends a new meaning to credibility.

    In addition, I was alamed to hear that "Jabar Gaffney, who was cut earlier by the Philadelphia Eagles.". I coulda swore he played with the Texans. I stopped reading at that point. When you're 1st factual error occurs in the 4th sentance, it usually means;

    YOU DO NOT KNOW D!CK

Overall I thought the article was good - Not perfect as you point out and with some obvious mistakes, but good compared to some I have read.

As a Patriots fan you have to take the negatives of an article with a grain of salt along with the good parts of the article if you are truly a FOOTBALL fan and not just a whiny homie who defends anything not perceived as positive.

Some of you homers would piss on negative articles even if this team was 1-15.

Learn to adjust to negatives in sports columns,Not everything about the Patriots is perfect or positive and you have to live with this.

The 2007 Patriots will be far from perfect - no team EVER has been perfect and this team does have weaknesses like it or not even though this is a SB caliber-type team on paper at this time and must show on the field to prove its true - Remember, every media source put the Carolina Panthers in the Super Bowl because they looked unbeatable in the NFC in 2006 - Didn't happen.

I know some of you agree with the positives of the article since you made no mention of this, but bash when something is said not so perfect or right in your views.

In general I am not defending his column but there has been no mention of anything you agreed with - all I hear is the parts that sucked.

Gaffney was drafted by the Texans, but signed a contract with the Eagles last offseason, then was waived after a poor preseason, before we signed him mid-season. So, I'm afraid your knowledge of male genitalia is lacking on this point.

After reading this quote, the article got the old double flush.. more bulletin board material.. should prove inspirational to the above and add A. Thomas...

So he did.......... I was under the impression that he was released by the Texans and then picked directly up by US, since he never played a meaningful snap for the Eagles.

Oh, but hey Richter............... FU anyways for pointing out my inaccuracies and throwing out that BS snarky last comment. ;)

I agree that SD and Indy won't be able to stop NE's offense. But IMO our defense will only be able to contain Indy's passing attack and LT. I expect some high-scoring games with the Colts and Chargers.

As for Denver, and I can't believe I'm saying this....they had a much better shot of beating us with Jake Plummer at QB. His mobility, effectively used on rollouts and bootlegs, was a problem for our defense and this was most evident in Week 3 last year. Plus the Snake only committed 1 turnover in 3 games against NE.

Now that Cutler is starting, Denver has a traditional drop-back passer, the kind that Belichick loves to feast on (think Manning pre-2005). His receiving options are talented (Walker, Graham, Stokely-when healthy), yet not impossible to neutralize. I believe our offense's use of zone-blocking will better prepare our D for stopping Denver's running game, and IIRC we were able to contain their running game the last 2 meetings.

Still, stopping Denver's offense alone won't get us past them. Their D has managed to shut our offense down the last 3 meetings, with the exception of garbage-time TDs. Not only did they get a talented CB in Bly to complement all-world Champ Bailey, but they also hired Jim Bates as DC, who has experience shutting down our offense from his days in Miami. Their pass-rush is still unproven, yet their LBs are quick. Time will tell whether the loss of Al Wilson will have an impact on their D.

If our offense is as loaded as we think, come playoff time, a matchup with the Broncos will be very intriguing. I'm thinking a low-scoring game decided by a FG.

Although Vrabes should be outside with Junior starting, I can't disagree with this assessment too much.

Vrabel and Bruschi looked like Joe Hardy at the end of Damn Yankees in the second half of the Colts game.

No young legs in sight at the position either.

Actually, Gafney was cut by the Eagles.

Where he gets the Gafney info wrong is when he talks about NE's fans' reaction to him early in the year. Hard to do when he wasn't on the team at that time.

    No Jersey Selected

    1) Neither can I.

    2) And Rashad Baker looked like Willy Mo Pena.

    3) At this point, I would settle for less young, but more talented, experienced and productive legs at ILB. And one pair at OLB, to replace Chad Brown.
