Aaron Hernandez charged with murder

Huh, I just saw a picture of Shayenna Jenkins, AH's fiance, being escorted from the bail hearing by attorney Janice Bassil and it suddenly occurred to me that I know her. I worked for her firm the summer of my second year in law school, Carney & Bassil. She did a lot family law stuff, nasty divorces, domestic-type situations, at least the summer I was there. I wonder who else is on this case? The summer I worked there doing crim law was the best summer. By far the most interesting job I have ever had.

Small world.

For a second there I thought you were saying Hernandez's fiancée is a lawyer. THAT would have been shocking.

Have the state sue the Hernandez estate to cover the cost of the lethal injection.

Bah.

I'd much rather see'm rot, if he's truly a Murderer.

I don't know if any'f us'll ever know what really Went Down.

As tempting as it is to toss Hernandez Under The Bus, I think that those'f us who're Honest about it will admit that there is an enormous SWATH of this Planet, here, there, and everywhere, where one's chances of simply SURVIVING ~ to live to see Adulthood ~ are immensely improved by AFFILIATING.

And ~ having so Affiliated ~ it's well nigh impossible to DIVEST oneself of such Affiliations, once one has undertaken them ~ Gangs generally follow the Until Death GuideLines of The Mob, naturally.

If any'f that comes across as Gibberish, I would recommend watching Colors & Gran Torino. They are HollyWood, of course, but do a remarkable job ~ in my view ~ of communicating the Reality.

So we go from a nation talking about how awful it is that China would charge the family of the executed for the bullet to charging the family of the executed far more for a lethal injection?

No, thanks. I prefer to retain some shreds of civilization and humanity.

That's how I read it too, then got confused cause she is 24.

Random tangent, according to this article:
http://www.heavy.com/news/2013/06/shayanna-jenkins-aaron-hernandez-fiancee-girlfriend/

If she were to marry Hernandez, she wouldn't have to testify against him; and then could get the rest of his money. Obviously only a real gold digger would do that; and it doesn't seem she is one.

Being white and having grown up on a farm I understand how little experience I have with gangs and the harsher realities of urban existence.

That said, Hernandez' money plus his celebrity fame and the great shing spotlight that comes with all that makes me think that Hernandez could have broken any gang affiliation he wanted too.

But of course the operative word here is "want".

personally i'd prefer not to have to pay to keep him in prison for the rest of his life. If he's found guilty just take him out behind a shed and put him down. He gave up his right to live when he intentionally took the life of another.

My point was that AH needs the death penalty. This was all pre-meditated. I don't care how old he is. Everyone knows right from wrong by age 12.

This was first degree murder no matter how you look at it. AH knew all along he was going to kill this guy. This guy, whose only offense was to speak to someone that AH disliked. And for that his life and his future wife and his future children and his future grandchildren will never know this world.

We don't need people like AH in this world.

You don't believe in due process? Sure it looks bad right now but the prosecution has to prove AH was at fault. Who knows if he coordinated the attack. That's just suspicion at this point. I believe it was that guy Ernie or Carlos who did the actual shooting. How are they going to determine was AH's involvement was if there isn't anyone willing to give up that information? The motive is not clear right now. The link to the prior murders is also just suspicion at this point.

I'm not sure what your position has to do with sending the bill for the execution to the man's family.

Considering the US has executed the innocent I'm always somewhat baffled when people say things like this.

But you're being glib so I guess I shouldn't put much stock in it.

a ritual such as what was done to Mel Gibson in Braveheart would be cool......I would love to watch someone be disemboweled and then pulled into pieces.....

Bah.

Third guy caught in Florida.

at what point do we, as a community, wash our hands of this and stop giving AH attention and time?

allegedly involved in 3 murders, no longer a patriot.

people talk about trades and stuff, what we really need is for something else to talk about.

Some guys have all the luck, I wouldn't be hanging out at strip clubs if my wife look likeShayenna Jenkins.

I agree, he needed to "want" to but also would've needed help doing so. For me, this whole sad situation has been educational. Reality for many of these guys is defined by gang culture, which operates outside the bounds of mainstream society. It's a direct clash of one set of values, "laws" and behavioral conduct against the other. The "trick" for them is to create a balancing act where they can live in the gang world and function well enough in the mainstream to reap its rewards short of "selling out." The flip side, of course, is behaving well enough in the mainstream to remain employed and avoid prison.

Guys like Ahern convince themselves they have what it takes to play both sides of the fence and win. But, as we've seen, youthful arrogance combined with rocks for brains doesn't get it done. I don't know if the league has a "gang culture extraction program" for players who want to leave that part of their lives behind; I'd like to know what they actually do offer.

When is the trial?

What will it take to convert Tebow into an elite Tight End and how long will it take? Discuss.

Will the Pats get the 1st or 2nd pick in the draft next year in a trade for Ryan Mallet?

I don't do anything, especially on a message board, "as a community". I will move on from this topic, naturally, when it no longer interests me. I suspect the same is true for everyone else here or in "the community" whatever that might mean.

Re: Re: Aaron Hernandez charged with murder

Probably a year to two years from now.

Actually with Hernandez being in jail without bail it's a safe bet to assume the defense will push their client's Sixth Amendment right to a speedy trial.

Im not sure what the maximum time allowed before the trial start date in Massachusetts, but in NY for example it's six months.

EDIT: NOT a lawyer (but I watch them on tv).. it looks like the law is 12 months in Mass. So you aren't as far off as I was thinking.
