I think a lot of liberals, myself included, would agree this was a stupid ban. Which is unfortunate because it is a serious issue - just the wrong way of going about it.
We ain't seen nothing yet, Liberals don't want to see anybody enjoying anything, except what they tell them to enjoy.
Sex has their little brains all messed up.
And the hits keep comin'
I agree that the rising rates of obesity and the associated health problems are a major issue, but it all comes back to education for me.
I don't know if the Presidential Fitness Program (or whatever it was called) is still going on, but I remember our final grades in gym were attached to our ability to do at least a modicum of pullups (I think even just one was passing), a few situps, and at least a respectable 1-mile run (I think 8:00 was passing). Add to that a regimen that specifically warns about the dangers of obesity and how it happens and you might get somewhere with it all.
Then again, I think parents play the largest role in education. Both of my daughters are in the 30-40% weight range for their age. How? I don't buy them junk food and we make sure to pack them a nutritious lunch for school. We don't have video game systems and we go to the park or play outside whenever possible.
I was an obese person (according to body fat %) for a few years and I can tell you; it's much cheaper to be fit.
Education is the basis of everything ranging from tying a shoe to world peace.
Basically, parents are hypocrites (junk food) and congress is either misinformed or are protecting their financial interests.
If someone wants to eat or drink themselves to death why do liberals think that they can stop them?
They are the way and the truth.
If they say it is so then by God it is so, heaven help you if you get in their way or disagree with them.
They believe they have the obligation and the divine right to destroy you.
We are not a village & never will be...we are a nation
Because it is a higher cost to taxpayers.
I'm kind of torn on this one. On one hand, I don't like the government, be it state of federal, telling Americans what they can and can't consume with the exception of some extreme cases. On the other hand, something needs to be done about these fat asses. Their medical costs are a burden on the taxpayer. I guess I would lean toward letting the big gulps exist. Banning large soft drinks isn't going to suddenly pull the fork out of a tub of lard's mouth.
It's foolish, it's like Michelle and her Tofu & Carrot school lunches, the kids just won't eat it, when schools out they will just go across the street and have a Pizza, if people can't get get a large soda, they will buy two small ones that equal a large one.
There Are Many Strange Things Going On In The World Of The Liberal They Are Hell Bent On Forcing Their Will On The Rest Of Humanity.
Your right in your stance Michelle's action on school lunch. But, not doing anything is worse. The same people who rant on the forced curfew in Baltimore are criticizing the crime in Chicago. Cake anyone?
We don't have to do anything, certainly not by force. Make people pay their own medical bills.
Yes, your right.
