Manning almost never gets sacked and this is what the Patriots must do to return to greatness.
Put together an O Line that can dominate and protect Brady consistently.
    Time to rebuild the O-line

That means keep Volmer and Mankins

Get a great center to replace Koppen
Improve the Guard and Tacvkle position by getting rid of Kaczur, Neal and Light

Whos great on that line? Saturday? Lets say it like it is, Peyton Manning having a hell of a year with NO running game is the reason the colts just won the AFC.

How many magic bullet posts have we had now on what wins championships ? There's a bunch of different ways. A good OL helps as does a lot of other things.

So shouldn't an O line that is better than the Colts also win championships? In that case, why would the Jets lose since they have a better OL.

    Yes.

Because the Steelers O-Line last year which was reknowned as the worst in the league obviously didn't win the Superbowl...

    Oh, wait...

Peyton Manning was sacked twice in the first quarter, it could be more than 2 good receivers...

what are you talking about? Colts oline is too small. Besides, it wasn't the oline that won the game but it was Rex's stupidity to not play a 3-4 against the colts. Peyton struggles against 3-4 defenses. Rex is all brawn and no brains. Yeah, Blitz on every down. that will do it, rex.

but i do agree that the pats oline needs rebuilding.

How did the o-line do the year the pats went 18-1? They played amazing during the regular season, but their failures in the sb is a major reason why they lost.

Or maybe, it was great defense.

The fact that we lost Neal and Hochstein didn't help.

5 hours ago i thought it was a powerful run game and good d.

Pats won with nobodies on the o-line multiple years because brady got rid of the ball quick.

The playcalling this year seemed to have alot of plays that took long to develop.
This o-line was 16-0 and the best offense in history in 2007 where the plays were much more quick striking. Also staying in shotgun for everyplay doesnt trick to many d's.

Having two beast pass rushers in Freeney and Mathis doesn't make a difference....

Can't we just say a good, talented team with coaches putting them in postion to win, wins championships? D wins championships, Running game, a great QB and now an O'Line? Manning makes that offence and is hardly ever sacked because nine times out of ten he reads the D, knows what coming and audibles accordingly.

Peyton runs the offence, not the guy with the headset.

And, to return to the elite level the Pats need alot more than an O'Line.

IMO I think it was on Roethlisberger alot of the time. It must be a nightmare blocking for that guy....Ben runs to the right, runs to the left, pump fakes, backs up, pump fakes, think's about it.......pump fakes, runs to the right, runs to the left, pump fakes...

    Sacked.

The Oline hasnt been that good since 2007. And yes, it needs a serious upgrade at Center and right Guard. Too many rushes up the middle over Koppen.

Or you could just get some receivers (other than Welker ) that can get open.

    Whoa, slow down.

First of all - exactly who do you suggest the Pats get to replace those three that will actually be an improvement and not a step backwards?

Second of all effective offensive line play requires timing and communication. That comes from repetition of playing together. The lack of continuity due to replacing 60% of the line will most likely mean you won't see improved results until 2011 at earliest.

Replacing Neal may be a moot point; it sounds like he is leaning towards retirement. But unless you can suggest something like 'the Pats should pick up this tackle, pick up that guard, draft this center', then saying the Pats would be better off by cutting three starters makes no sense at all.

I think you really exaggerate the longevity of playing together for years to have very good Oline.
Look at Jets? They learned to communication this past off season.
Our own Oline had multiple replacements and didn't do any worst than
    when the starter returned.
I've heard this argument but I don't buy it completely. Of course
playing years together helps but that does not mean you can't have a
very good Oline with talent and a good coach. Didn't take Vollmer long
    to fit in.
