Here are some interesting stats/facts after tonight that I have seen:

1.) Andre Carter is tied for fourth in sacks and Mark Anderson is tied for 9th. The Pats are one of only two teams with two players in the top 10 in this category (The Giants are the other with Umenyoira and Pierre Paul).

2.) Rob Gronkowski moves into 6th in receiving yards. More than Larry Fitzgerald or Greg Jennings.

3.) The Pats are the only team with two receivers in the top 10 in receiving with Gronk and Welker.

4.) Gronk is now second in receiving TDs.

In the AFC, Carter is tied for 1st in sacks (with Woodley), and Anderson is 4th (Carter, Woodley, Miller). Each has more sacks than the any Patriot had last year. Both are on pace for double digits.

Gronk is a beast. After last year I believed that Gronkowski would never be a huge threat in between the twenties. I thought Hernandez would own that section of the field and Gronkowski would be mostly relegated to a red zone beast.

But he is unreal....and very humble, at least outwardly during interviews.

Is there no love for the league's interception leader?

Sorry. Didn't want to diss Arrington, but they said it multiple times during the broadcast. I was pointing out stats that people might not know.

I asked this in the game thread. When was the last time the Pats had two defenders in double digits in sacks? I am guessing it would be the mid 90s with Slade and McGinest, but that is just a wild guess. Too lazy to look it up.

EDIT: Nope. Slade never had double digits. I did find in 1985, Tippett had 16 and Garvin Veris had 10. That might have been the last time.

Slade never got double-digits. He had 9 twice and 9.5 once though. I'll try to figure this out!

Yeah, McGinest and Veris in 85. The Pats have only had two double-digit sacks guys that one time since sacks became an official stat.

Yeah, I figured that out. Thanks. I did find 1985 might be the last time. So you can start there and look forward.

    #3 Jersey

    One from the Boston Globe:

Edelman is now only the fourth Patriot with multiple punt return TDs (can you name the other three? :D)

    And one from NBC:

GRONK and Hernandez are the first TE teammates in NFL history to have five TDs in each of consecutive seasons.

And, oh yeah: GRONK is only the second TE with 10+ TDs in consecutive seasons, after Antonio Gates. :rocker:

Gronk is the best tight end in the league right now and I don't think it's even close. After that, I would give Jimmy Graham the #2 spot with Witten coming in at #3. It's scary to think of how much better he's going to get. You can really tell that the game has slowed down significantly for him.

Hell, he's got 250+ more yards and the same amount of TD's in 6 less games than last season and he was one of the best TEs last year. Even if he doesn't improve any further he'll be the best there is for a long time, and with this start to his career, he could potentially go down as the GOAT of TE's (assuming he keeps this production). Who was the last complete tight end? I can't think of any recent with Gronk's blocking ability and pass catching (especially redzone) production.

edit: With how much Brady loves to target him in the endzone, I think he could make a serious run at Moss' 23 touchdown record within a season or two. 10 TD in 10 games is insane for any receiver, plenty wish they could get 10 in a season.

How much will the Patriots have to pay to keep this guy around after his rookie deal ends?

Can they keep him and Hernandez?

Can they keep him/Hernadez and Welker?

    Good problems to have though.

    #12 Jersey

Arrington's 7 INTs and 10 PDs "should" be 5 INTs and 12 PDs, because neither the Hail Mary nor the desperation 4th down pass he didn't return to the original line of scrimmage were true INT accomplishments.

But I think the latter figure would still tie him for the league lead in DB stats ...
