75-man cutdown preview

The Patriots currently have 81 active players on their roster.

They need to cutdown to 75 players by 4 P.M. Tuesday, so 6 cuts need to be made.

NFLE and Bonus exemptions no longer apply.

The following players are on reserve lists, according to the credible Ourlads.com (Ourlads Scouting Services):

Zuriel Smith and Earl Charles are already on a reserve list and can't be cut. Well, they can be but don't count against the roster limit right now anyways, so there's no reason to cut them.

We'll know for sure by tomorrow afternoon.

But it's a pretty simple deduction:

-2 of the 3 players have no numbers

-All 3 players are NFLE players

-All 3 players haven't practiced or played all of camp/preseason

on this cutdown to 75 players. Otherwise, he would have

You're right, but he's saying that the reserve/NFLE injured list is just like the injured reserve - the player is lost for the season but doesn't count against the active roster limit at any point.

It seems that a move has been made officially OR without any publicity...Of course the NFLE players would be gone..on a reserve list...I think that is the biggest NON brainer of the year..but a move has not been made..at least NOT reported by Reiss, or on Pats.com or other sites. But yet, CoachB on EEI mentioned that they only had to make 6 cuts. SO obviously this move has been made.
Pats1..has it pretty much done!!! And he's actially added 5 more!! So with his list it's T minus 17.....GREAT JOB!!!

-DB Gemara Williams was waived Aug. 18. The rookie free agent has an injury -- assuming he clears waivers he will be revert to New England's injured reserve.

Interesting, our pool of young wannabes is getting deeper: Charles, Z.Smith, Ventrone, Williams...I wonder how that will affect Gus Scott getting waived?

Maybe, but it could be that there is a strategic advantage to waiting until the last second to announce. That's generally the rule of thumb anyway. Whether it's true or not is another argument for another day.
