Once again it that rightie bias, I know a lot of liberal folks who really like NASCAR. My bro in law, who is a big leftie, photographs NASCAR for the Woods brothers. I know a lot of libs who really enjoy this activity. This is anecdotal, but about as anecdotal as these comments. Who inspired this thought Fox News??

Well, your brother *gets paid* to watch NASCAR. Would he ever *pay* to watch it?? Big difference.

Because most of the fans of NASCAR believe in traditional family values, patriotism, and God.

I shouldn't answer this baiting thread, but where fools rush in. He is a fan of the guy who races in the Air Force car, as he is retired air force. He used to just photograph as a hobby, then got a couple of gigs for the Wood Bros. and then he moved out the the DC mainstream to Minnesota to start his own photography business, distance makes travelling all over the US impractical.

I also know a lot of other "liberals" who like NASCAR, for no particular reason. As far as the family values goes is Gingrich and Guiliani, the vanguards of the right, NASCAR fans.

I get real offended when I hear people say Baseball is boring; but that doesn't stop me from finding car races so. Both involve three hours of waiting to see just a few critical moments. The three hours of waiting under the warm sun in Boston in July at Fenway Park is much more comfortable than the same three hours spent in the infield at Daytona, FL in July under that brutal, death-bringing sun. I've experienced both and would only repeat one.

I didn't intend for this to be a "baiting thread", I know nothing about NASCAR, what started me wondering was that somewhere out in the Northwest they want to build a NASCAR track, the people that oppose it were interviewed on the news and they all seemed to be of the "Liberal Type" Bush Haters, Anti Beer, The Word "Redneck" was mentioned constantly and some were saying they saw to many American Flags on tee-shirts and caps in the crowd.
It seems that this NASCAR has gotten under the skin of the Left Wing, up until now I have seen no publicity about this sport that would put it in the spotlight, I know it has a huge following, but there has been no mention of "Steroids, Drug Use, Illigitimate Children, Riots, Wife Beatings, Or Jail Time" as there has been in other professional sports, why is it that the Liberal Sport Fan is down on NASCAR, I think I know but I don't dare mention it.

I am not a NASCAR fan, I can't understand how someone can sit in a chair for three hours and watch cars go around in circles, you can get the same effect by standing on an overpass and watch the traffic below on Rte 128.

I don't think the Air Force is currently sponsoring a car, but I could be wrong. I know Casey Mears is sponsored by the National Guard (and GMAC).

Not surpising some "liberals" would like NASCAR. It's a pretty open crowd.

I think it was Ernest Hemingway who said there are only three real sports: hunting/deep sea fishing, mountain climbing, and race car driving; every thing else was "just a game."

Ha, tell me about it!! They built 128 back around '54-55, and it went right across our drive-way in Needham. Our old house is still there: red brick and white clapboard Cape, driveway still cut off from access to our street (Carter Street). We moved shortly after the highway was built; I was about 9. Before we did, though, we certainly got our taste of watching the cars go by!!

    :p

Maybe for the same reason liberals don't like Limbaugh, Coulter, Savage, etc. They're really loud and stink up the place.

I hate NASCAR. Seriously, what's the point? Drive around in circles for a couple of hours? No thanks.

One of the reasons that the Armed Forces spends time and money there, is that they are always recruiting skilled mechanics.. makes sense, win win for both sides.

As far as the red necked stuff goes, when we lived in Maine, used to go to Oxford Plains just for the fun of it. There was as much action in the stands as there was on the track. My all time fave was the 3X babe in the 1X white tank top with a black bra hanging out, true sex appeal. It is not high brow at all, but that was fun.
