    Goodell the cheapskate (link)

Apparently, about 200-400 fans aren't going to be admitted to the SB because they have tickets to temporary seating that has not yet been setup.

Fans denied access to seats at Super Bowl - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

Goodell has offered them 3x the face value of their ticket.

Some people have purchased tickets for $3,000, while the NFL won't reimburse for flights and hotels.

At the very least, Goodell should let 50 of them into his luxury box.

Or, better yet, jolly roger should have his billion dollar league not look rinky dink and get the seats set up in time. Way to go, roger.

Just to shed some light. Whomever the event coordinator was did not get proper authorization for the temporary seating from the fire marshal. As a result, there were over 1000 seats that were taken down and not allowed to be used.

I hate Roger Goodell like everyone else, but this is not his fault.

I agree but they should also be reimbursed for travel and hotel expenses, if they can provide receipts

His league, his fault. Everything that happens falls on him, that's the way it goes when you're in charge.

Perhaps if the Commish had spent his time SUPERVISING the affair, as it is HIS JOB to do, rather than spend time harping on Coach and the Patriots, this wouldn't have happened.

Goodell is the one in charge. He's the one responsible for everything that goes on, no matter who he hires to do what.

He blew this BIG TIME and I hope these fans get fully reimbursed for ALL of their expenses, plus free tickets to next year's SB.

Yep; instead of feeling like a man for slamming Bill AGAIN he could have stopped by the seat people and said "everything going OK ?". Then made sure it was. As they say, that's why he gets the big bucks.

What I want to know is how big the fine and how many draft picks the Patriots will lose because of this fiasco?

The biggest gaffe of Super Bowl XLV was not Christina Aguilera's anthem flub — it was the NFL's decision to sell hundreds of tickets to seats that were not built or secured in time for the Big Game.

Re: OT 400 people holding real SB tickets denied entry

Can you imagine shelling out all that dough, getting yourself down there after all the transportation problems, and finding our your seat isn't there, courtesy of the NFL? Aye Caramba!!

They are supposedly refunding people 3x the cost of the ticket. I bet some of them paid more.

I bet you are right, they paid more. Then throw in what it cost to get there etc... Roger really screwed them.

That's three times the face value, not what they actually paid. You can bet that a lot of those people paid upwards of $2k per ticket on the secondary market. Imagine being a Steelers fan paying all that dough to go down there and not only be shut out of the stadium, but also have your team lose a heartbreaker watching it outside in cold weather on TV. And THEN have to go back to snowy cloudy Pittsburgh. What a nightmare. The NFL should buy all those people a week's vacation in the Caribbean.

Not quite, but at least they are taking steps to make it right:

I feel really sorry for those 400 fans who put in a lot of time and money to get tickets for the big game. I am not sure getting free admission to next year's SB is adequate compensation because they might be (probably will be) force fed two teams they don't like.

I understand many here want to throw brickbrats at Goodell, but this is on Jerry Jones.

It was his monstrous ego trip that necessitated the extra seating in order to break the 1980 record for attendance.

    It is his stadium.

The Cowboys haven't played there in over a month.

This Super Bowl was his business plan and it was part of the 50%-50% tab he threw on the City of Arlington back in 2006.

As they say down there, Jerry Jones is "all hat and no cattle". It couldn't have happened to a better owner (unless it was Dan Snyder).

While I agree it sucks to be in that position. From what I read, those 400 or so fans were able to watch the game from standing room only sections, and like everyone has already touched upon, they will be given 3x face value. When you think about it, it's not the end of the world, they got to watch a Superbowl, and then make money from it.
