Have a great time, Scooter.
just a slap on the wrist for taking the bullet for cheney/ bush / rove
Too much considering he wasn't convicted of an underlying crime . . . in fact Billy Boy also lied under oath but I don't recall him going to jail.
He lied, he deserves it, no pardon either, since 30 months is fair I think. People cannot lie under oath. Period.
Do you think he will share the same cell with Randy Cunningham, Bob Ney, and Jack Abramoff?
I was wondering how long it would take to bring Clinton's name up. Isn't there just a little bit of difference in obstructing justice in the investigation of revealing a CIA agent that was by most accounts a vindication (she's fair game) versus an investigation of Whitewater which was a political fishing expedition which revealed nothing, but was able to uncover an affair that had nothing to do with the original investigation. Not defending Clinton, just putting some perspective in place. Scooter was a fall guy who lied because..........he couldn't remember the truth? He deserves jail. Do you think Clinton deserved jail time for lying about a blowjob?
Libby was convicted of giving differing accounts of his conversations with journalist to the grand jury. He was not convicted of revealing Plame's CIA status. Armitage was the one who revealed Plame's status to Novak (the original reason for Fitz's investigation supposedly). Armitage of course wasn't charged with anything.
Most interesting Fitz knew who gave Plame's name to Novak before Libby was ever called to testify to the Grand Jury.
Awwwww, come on now RW. You don't really mean EVER, do you. After all, as long as it's about a blowjob, it's fine. See, even SCOUT thinks so
I believe the term I'm looking for is Moral Relativism. All lying under oath is not created equal............ right????????
Lying under oath is lying under oath. I wasn't trying to deflect the discussion, but Clinton did do that. But I guess that's OK.
Well, Billy never went to jail so I guess they can.
Jail isn't the only punishment. Clinton paid a fine, was impeached by the house, and forfeited his law license. For a lie involving personal infidelity.
The difference being that what Billy Boy lied about under oath was not a crime... the only "crime" was just the lying itself.
Okay, so what was the CRIME that Libby lied about. Don't make one up, name the statute.
Don't take this as justification for what Libby did either. I don't condone what he did and think he needs to be punished. I just hate Moral Relevance (i.e. It's okay to lie under oath in this circumstance, but not that one.), or vice versa. The absurdity of that should be self-evident.
Whether there was a conviction for a crime or not (there wasn't) he still lied about facts in a criminal investigation. No way to raise doubt on that, the matter was criminal.
Maybe, but my (frozen) money is on William Jefferson. You know, it's all about diversity these days.
It's lying under oath, period. You can't lie under oath about the weather.
Politics seems to have its own set of rules outside the law. Libby is a victim of political persecution, just as Clinton was. He deserved a slap on the wrist, but not a prison sentence.
You'll get no argument from me about how fair the world is, as it's not. The bottom line is, there was no way they were going to put a sitting president in jail for the crime committed. That's just reality. The one that upsets me is Sandy Burglar.
Oh yeah, I forgot......... It's okay to lie in Civil Proceedings. You know, cuz those guys aren't even like real lawyers and judges or anything.
But hey, I'll play the game. By the time Libby lied, Fitzy already knew the source and circumstances of Plames name be brought forth. Following that logic, he already KNEW a crime had NOT been committed. The Criminal part of the investigations was over then. RIGHT? Therefore Libby didn't lie DURING a criminal investigation.
Sounds stupid, huh. That the way most relativism works. It has no end.
Actually, I think Patters is just about dead on in this one. This "gothca" politics is killing us. ON BOTH SIDES.
"Stupid is as stupid does. "
"Everything is as important as when it happens."
"The Unaware ; Are Unaware ; That They're Unaware . . . "
once again, you're being pig-headed in the face of facts... Armitage was one of several leakers, simultaneously, in a coordinated effort to expose Plame to selective, sympathetic right wing media... read a book, and stop lying to yourself... Libby's testimony was essential in proving prior knowledge of Plame's COVERT status, and he muddied the waters for all being investigated... get a clue...
As much as I do not like what he did, not sure that jail is the answer.. too expensive, put him under house arrest, fine him and makes him do a ton of community service..
Jail sends a message that no one is above the law. That if you lie under oath, you're going to be prosecuted, and if found guilty, will do hard time. House arrest is for litterers.
Yeah, things don't look good for this guy now. With the boom lowered on the Scooter, it ain't gonna be slackened for William Jefferson Blythe Clint..., oh, I mean just William Jefferson.
Don't forget Sandy Burglar I think he will be the "big one" people want to know, WHAT DID HE STEAL, WHY DID HE STEAL IT, WHO WAS HE COVERING FOR, WHAT POWER MADE HIM RISK HIS WHOLE FUTURE LIFE AND POSSIBLY PRISON FOR---WHAT WAS BEHIND THIS THEFT--IT MUST BE FAR MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYBODY BELIEVES.
Lock Them All Up send a message to the future bastards.

take some medication, and try to breathe through your nose...
OK, I'll try but that has always been hard for me to do, I only have one nostril, a horse stepped on my face when I was 14 years old and I almost lost my whole nose but they were able to save one nostril, thank God.
Patters, I don't care what anyone says, you are a man of reason.
Uncle Teddy is the one that belongs in prison, for life.
I don't know about that, will be sent to some Club Fed, not have to do much, on Home Confinement they really limit what you do, who you can talk to, who you see etc.. People on lengthy home confinement go batty and it is less expensive for the taxpayer..
Separate names with a comma.
