2013 Pro Football Hall of Fame: who is in, who is out?
    By: John Morgan

Should Bill Parcells be voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame? Perhaps someday, but definitely not this year when he is up against this list of nominees....

Capping it at 5 entrants every year is stupid and arbitrary, especially when coaches and contributors count as part of the 5.

If you trust a group of people to vote on HOF membership, then trust them to draw the line at what they determine is the appropriate place, whether it's below the 5th guy, below the 8th guy, or below the 3rd guy.

Starkist finally quit saying "Sorry, Charlie" to the Big Tuna. While I was quite upset with his effort and concentration in his final game with the Pats, I'm pleased that he is entering the hall. He is responsible for initializing the Patriot Dynasty. Congratulations, Coach Parcells!

Glad to see some offensive and defensive linemen picked. Larry Allen and even Curly Culp, what do you know?

I heard some lame-o 20's something punk on ESPN say "who the hell is Curly Culp?" and then make one of those "I know it all and I disapprove" noises...well, Curly Culp is the progenitor of the nose tackle position.I had the pleasure to see him and other famous defensive players for that Chiefs team play in their prime. If not for Culp, Willie Lanier, Buck Buchanan, Bobby Bell and Jim Lynch would not have nearly been as effective a 3/4 D unit as they were.

I wouldn't mind if Curly, on the way to the podium, grabbed one of the ESPN snickerboys by the crotch until he screamed for his mommy in falsetto tones...

Sort of disappointed Sapp made it in, only because I think he's a lousy human being. Always thought Carter was borderline and still do.

Agreed, sir! Sapp is a poor excuse for a human being, but he was one hell of a player. Carter is borderline IMHO, and while I can take or leave him as a person, at least it's not a travesty that he got in.

I don't know why I always get moved when guys I dislike make it. Couldn't stand Irvin and he happened to have a great speech at the ceremony. And then Carter who I despised makes it and I feel good for him as well. I must be getting soft in my older years but when I hear the passion for the game from any Hall Of Famer I am moved.

It's amazing to choose a profession then just go out of your way to look like a horses ass by showing your ignorance.

I think in recent years the induction speeches have become too self-indulgent. It's not an episode of "This Is Your Life," it's a career honor. I just wish they'd keep it to their experiences as a player and not feel compelled to tell their life's story.

I disagree. This is a lifetime achievement award. I think it important for players to show what this means to them.

The 2014 Hall of Fame class is not going to be any easier to get in to than this one was.

First, consider the ten that did not get in this year:
Ed DeBartolo, Art Modell, Michael Strahan, Charles Haley, Will Shields, Kevin Greene, Aeneas Williams, Jerome Bettis, Ed Reed, Tim Brown.

Now add to that list some of these guys that will be eligible for the first time:
    Walter Jones
    Shawn Alexander
    Derrick Brooks
    Junior Seau
    Tony Dungy
    Kurt Warner
    Isaac Bruce
    Kevin Mawae
    Zach Thomas
    Chris Samuels

The you have others that didn't make it to the finals this year, such as
Don Corryell, Jimmy Johnson, Morten Anderson, John Lynch, Roger Craig, Stanley Morgan, etc.
