And over half of them reside in California. Over 150,000 lost unemployment benefits in April.

"NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- More than 200,000 long-term jobless Americans will lose their unemployment checks this week, when eight states roll off the federal extended benefits program.

Nearly half of them live in California, and the rest reside in Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, Colorado, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Texas."

If I was a bettn' man, I'd put my money on another significant jump in disability claims.

These folks will no longer be counted as unemployed. So far this year almost 800k have had their benefits phased out as the fed program has been dropped in numerous states. this is to help 'lower' the unemployment % for political posturing.

Well then, during the presidential debates, someone should point out the fallacy of our dropping unemployment rate. That should be easy to prove to the American people.

If Obama and the Democrats wanted to "lower the unemployment % for political posturing" they wouldn't have been the ones who pushed for and got the federal extension in 2010 to begin with.

Probably because they didn't think they were going to have their asses handed to them in the mid-terms.

You now need to get on your knees and pray to St. Ronnie Reagan who changed the way we count the unemployed, so he would look better than Carter...

No matter how many times you repeat the same thing in a different way, still does not minimize how Reagan changed the rules...

It is very, very Politically Incorrect not to support Obama, no matter what he does to destroy America.

I love how these people lose their "unemployment" and yet aren't then counted as unemployed. :idontgetit:

Who was it in here that made a comment criticizing someone for not trusting government statistics?

Speaking of California, I saw they're now $16+ Billion in the hole this year alone? Good times.

Maybe these people collecting should get another 2 years to collect. Afterall, unemployment creates jobs. :D

I am sure, Ronnie Reagan changed the way we count the unemployed.. now the party who changed the way longs and pines for the old way.

What people like you don't consider is that we've never had people unemployed this long since the Great Depression. In prior recessions, we never witnessed the rate go down due to people "falling out of the labor force" to the extent is has over the past 12-18 months.

Basically, this has never happened before. So for those who keep crying that is has, you're wrong.
