I have to applaud this kid's agent for being on the ball...unfortunately, I felt Moore played poorly in his Texas vs. The Nation game. Maybe he would have done better with more reps, some RBs just need to be warmed up more - but people who talk about him as a 3rd down back for NE should be nervous about a kid who needs to be warmed up with multiple reps if that's how he'd be used.

Where did you get 4.69 from? Link please. I was under the impression that he ran a 4.85, based on the following link:

Owls' seniors get chance to impress NFL scouts -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

According to this source, his teammate Greg Joseph ran a 4.69.

    #12 Jersey

What about North Carolina WR, Brandon Tate? Because he's recovering from ACL surgery, he did not run the 40 at the Combine. But reports are that he'll likely run at his Pro Day. With no immediate need at WR could the Pats take a flyer on him late on day two?

The numbers are decent but not eyepopping. I also think he would have run slower if he had to share the same slow track as the other RBs at the combine. So imo, he's still a 2nd day pick. I would not take him on the 1st day as some have projected. He would have needed to run a blistering 4.3ish to really open eyes. And he didn't do that. And when you consider that his size is only 5'9 198. His speed/size combo just doesn't stand out any more than the average 3rd down back.

    Michael Crabtree update...

    Crabtree will undergo surgery Wednesday

    ---

Obviously he's still one of the draft's elites, and won't be within reach of #23. But I'm curious if he may slide a little. Currently, I've seen him consistently ranked as the draft's #2 overall prospect. Will he slide out of the top 5? I'm guessing he won't because a fast 40 isn't his game to begin with, and his production and film speaks for itself.

    Thoughts from the board?

According to Gil Brandt, William Moore had an excellent pro day:

    NFL.com Blogs Pro Days

"One player who performed really well was S William Moore. He looked good in his positional drills and was impressive overall. He measured in at 6-foot and a 1/2-inch, 221 pounds. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.51 and 4.49 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.94 seconds. He also posted a 10-foot, 6-inch broad jump."

Perhaps Moore's stock will climb back up a bit and knock someone else down to us.

I'm still a little leery of Moore based on his poor 2008 campaign, which is a pit because the 2007 William Moore would have been the ideal pick at #23 and would be a monster in our secondary next to Meriweather. His poor performance could have all been a combination of poor coaching use, injuries and increased weight, but it would personally take more than one good pro day to make me jump for him in the first. But at #58 he would be a solid value.

He's remaining on my board as a round two option. I have seen him projected as a 3rd-rounder, which would be a steal -- if he develops into that player we observed in '07.

EDIT: Just read that Moore was timed in the low 4.4 range in the 40-yard dash and clocked 4.39 on at least one reading, several people confirmed. Also, the Saints and Fins are showing strong interest.

The Saints have #14 and then no pick until the 4th round, so I'm not sure how they would get Moore. Malcolm Jenkins or Vontae Davis look like their most likely options at #14.

The Fins are definite possibilities with picks at #25, 44 and 55. The last 2 picks are right before our #47 and #58 picks, so I could see them picking Moore a couple of picks ahead of us in the 2nd round.

I think Moore is a solid 2nd rounder right now. 2007 is his upside, 2008 his downside. If Louis Delmas had Moore's size (or conversely, if Moore had Delmas' physical style and cover ability) that would be my pick at #23.

The Saints will trade down if Loomis has any sense, considering how strong this draft is. That said, no way they take Moore at 14.
