The NFL Scouting Combine will be held February 18-24, 2009. And once again, it's important to have one convenient thread devoted to all Combine happenings:

The official site: Home | National Invitational Camp

Over three hundred of the very best college football players will be invited to participate in the NFL Scouting Combine (National Invitational Camp) in Indianapolis, Indiana. Top Executives, Coaching Staffs, Player Personnel Departments and Medical Personnel from all 32 NFL teams will be on hand to evaluate the nation's top college football players eligible for the upcoming NFL Draft.

Thanks, Seneschal. Let's try to keep all of the pre-combine news in this thread, then we can break it out (by position, maybe?) once everybody hits Indianapolis.

Sounds great!

2009 NFL Combine

Post all your thoughts about the combine here. To kick it off I'll link the official list of combine invitees. Which of these invitees are you most excited to see perform at the combine?

PS I heard that Crabtree is NOT going to run the 40 at the combine. I really hate it when kids choose not to perform from the advice of agents. If he is the real deal, what has he got to hide?

with both olb and te being a need... I'm going to be keeping my eye out on Barwin to see where he lands. He might be patriots material if he lasts long enough.

Pre-combine one thread sounds fine. I know the mods are just trying to keep some order, and have my appreciation for it, but the thread moving/merging/limitation seems a bit overbearing at times.:)

Now now, I haven't actually moved or merged any threads. So anything overbearing you sense is just my personality. ;)

That he'd probably run a 4.6 with a sore ankle and might slip a spot or two.

I think he'll end up regretting it more if Maclin runs a 4.4 and passes him as the #1 WR taken in the draft. But whatever. I'm sure his agent advised him to sit out. I really don't like that though. If you're going to the Combine, you might as well show off all that you can do.

Anybody else really looking forward to Herman 'The House' Johnson running the 40?

No, he brings nothing to the table I expect the Pats to be interested in.

No drills for Mack...

NFL.com Blogs Blog Archive No drills for Cal center Mack

Many players attend the combine, but just don't participate in drills — which teams dislike. The latest is California center Alex Mack.

Mack said he sprained his ankle on Monday, which will prevent him from participating in drills this week in Indianapolis.

"While preparing for the combine on Monday with my trainer, I suffered a sprained ankle," Mack said. "The injury isn't serious, but unfortunately, it is going to keep me from working out this week in Indianapolis. No one is more disappointed than me, as I have been working tirelessly to further prove myself as a first-round pick. However, I don't want to perform at anything less than 100 percent.

"I will complete my interviews here and return to my training in anticipation of a great Pro Day in Berkeley on March 18."

Not unless BB plans on converting him to Defensive End.
