Last year in 2007 we were all very anxious to see all of our new guys (Moss,Welker,Thomas ect: ) and we were all excited to get the season started knowing that 2007 would be a pretty good year even in the offseason.

This year we go though this spygate stuff and all the accusations and negativity from media and other authorities towards this organization and once again we are all anxious to get this season on track and thus spygate should subside once the games begin.

Which of these 2 offseasons have been the longest and which year have you been more excited to see come?

Knowing this is a new year and last year is over you might obviously be leaning towards this season but just forget what transpired during the actual season of 2007 and go back to what you felt in May of 2007 and now in May on 2008 and compare your excitement and anticipation.

08, the whole nonsense with spygate, then FA if Moss was coming back, , then back to spygate, not to mention the game that started this all on feb 3rd...

07 , the 2 weeks were rough after the afc title game, but then FA happened and all was forgotten.. The anxious part of the season to start was long, but this has been a long offseason.. 08 by far.

I think 07 was longer in that after the free agent spending spree was over in March, it was really quiet until the draft. At least this year we have had SOMETHING to talk about. Granted, it isn't something we'd LIKE to discuss but there has been plenty of Patriots related media out there.

In terms of looking at the calendar and saying, "holy cow, we are only 10 weeks away from training camp?" No doubt, last year was longer. That is probably in part to how excited we all were to see the new editions on the field.

The true test will be the "dead period" from the end of OTA's in early June to the week camp begins in mid-late July. That is ALWAYS the hardest for me. It is one of the reasons I hate summer. ;)

Definitely last year. Dealing with that 2nd-half debacle, having to watch that choker Manning and the Colts take home the Lombardi, all offseason I wondered if the torch has officially been passed and if the Pats' best days are behind them. Even the first 8 weeks of '07 felt "long" because we hadn't played Indy yet. Since the 2007 Pats reasserted themselves as an elite team, I feel pretty good about where the Pats are personnel-wise coming into 2008.

Maybe I am just worn-out from the 5-month long circus that was the 2007 season, but this offseason has been a (rare) welcome break.

The 2007 offseason definitely was longer. I think the main difference is the Pats have been in the news so much plus the fact we played our last game in February. I hope the players feel like they've had a decent break and come back refreshed. Even more than last season, I want this team to go undefeated and win the Super Bowl and slam the door on the naysayers once and for all.

Would anyone be happy just winning the Super Bowl with a ho-hum 17-2 or 16-3 record? Our brush with immortality has certainly raised expectations.

I consider any season in which the Pats win a playoff game to be at least a relative success. In other words: I'd be more than happy with another 17-2 SB-winning season. That said, I want 19-0. :)

2007 season because I didn't know what our offense was going to be capable of with the new additions on the team. Plus, add to that, the 2006 AFCC loss to the Colts. Very long offseason. This year, I know what to expect from the offense and Moss. Also, the Spygate crap has seemed to speed up the offseason for me. Can't wait until week 1!

I think this year is already longer. Yes, we did actually have a longer offseason by two weeks last year, but there was a lot of good activity going on last year. It seemed that everything was going right. We signed Adalius Thomas and Stallworth, traded for Welker and Moss, and had what people thought was a good draft.

This year has been excrutiating. From the Spygate stuff that will never end with having listen and read Patriots bashers in the media everywhere. Lack of activity in free agency. Brady following Giselle all over the world carrying her purse. Faulk and Richardson getting busted for drugs.

I enjoyed the 2007 offseason. I can't wait for the 2008 offseason to be over already.

the answer is 08. I feel like it's forever. I can't wait to see a new and improved Pats team. Why does it take too long for me to see 19-0 Pats in 08.???????

    it's really frustrating.

Again, I don't really see the obsession over 19-0. We had our (likely one and only) chance in SB42 and didn't seal the deal. I never believed a team could actually go 19-0 before last year, and we found out that even an 18-0 team can blow it. They don't award any trophies for going 19-0 anyway - that was the problem with the Pats - they actually believed they were playing for something more than a Lombardi, and I think it cost them.

So we can get this out of the way once and for all...

THINGS THAT HAD A HAND IN THE PATRIOTS LOSING THE SUPER BOWL:

    1. The Giants defensive line.

    2. Unending media scrutiny.

    3. The pressure to win a Super Bowl.

    4. The pressure to go 19-0.

    5. False allegations of a tape for the 2001 SB walk-thru which caused a senator to intervene and call Brady into his office for questioning after the Super Bowl.

Sadly, I think #1 was the least of the Pats' worries of the 5 before the game.

    I agree.

you should combine the two and make it one so that your list is shorter because winning a SB is going for 19-0.

I don't see how you win a SB and not having 19-0 when you win previous 18.?

I suppose you're right. That would further illustrate the enormous amount of pressure that was on the team.

Easy for me, it would be the '07 season. I couldn't wait to see how Tom Brady would do with Randy Moss, Donte Stallworth, Wes Welker, Sammy Morris and Laurance Maroney as the featured back. I was excited to see how A.D. would do on defense. This draft wasn't too exciting and the Pats weren't very active in fee agency so I really don't have much to look foward to. Also, I'm not in any rush to see the season start because I will turn 26 in September. I'm not too excited about that.

i know why 08 is longer because the BS from ESPN and media about Pats has been going on and on. Unfortunately, i don't see anything exciting.

    Last year was worse because:

    1. The Colts won the SB.

    2. We gave the game away instead of legitimately getting our asses kicked

    3. The offseason was two weeks longer

    4. The "christmas morning" anticipation of Welker, Stallworth, Moss and Thomas

    5. The Celtics weren't in the playoffs and had just missed out on Oden and Durant

    6. There's nothing that sticks in the old craw like losing to the Colts.
