If you want to see a shining example of one party taking over both houses of Congress in decisive fashion, look to 1994 as your example.

Although they'll never admit it, dems from coast to coast are plenty disappointed with tonight's results. Not quite the sweeping victory they were planning on.

I disagree. After 2004, when we were all so confident about Kerry and then were devastated, we learned not to expect too much. When we started watching tonight, my husband and I could not believe how everything was breaking. It looks like we won't take the Senate, but we made up some ground and the House is within striking distance.

Yup, like I said... they'll never admit it... but don't be fooled, people. Dems are disappointed and Repubs are breathing a heavy sigh of relief.

Ha! ha! You're right - you can tell by the expressions on all of the "pundits'" faces!

People, I am not talking about the House. 30, 35, 40 seats in the House is all the same, but it was all totally expected.

Don't be fooled. The left is very disappointed they didn't grab the Senate too. And the right is breathing a huge sigh of relief because things definitely could have been worse.

Yep you speak for us all. Tell me about it... I'm absolutely devastated the Dems will have a 20+ seat majority in the House and an even Senate (actually if the Dem pulls it out in MO we'll have a majority there too). Devastated.

Talk about over projecting. The Senate ain't over yet there Quiggy.

NBC is projecting a 30+ pickup by the Dems in the House, and everybody is calling the Senate 48-48 and 4 undecided. That's two seats away from exactly what I predicted would happen right here on this very board, so I'm certainly not disappointed.

Well, we'll see... it should be close but the Repubs hold the tie breaker....

Oh, don't get me wrong. I have been dry heaving all night at the thought of Nancy Pelosi being the speaker of the house... but if the Republicans can hold onto the Senate, that would be no small victory. We shall just have to see how it plays out...

Yeah it's almost over. Webb has eked it out in VA, while Cardin has won handily in Maryland. Now it all comes down to Missouri. Even if the Dems come up short in MO, the GOP will have to have VP Cheney bail them out in a 50-50 Senate.

Republicans can't hate America and expect to win popular elections.

I don't hate America, I just think there's a lot of stupid people here. I hope none of you have 401Ks. All this talk about "Dow 12,000 doesn't help workers" - just wait until those workers see their 401Ks shrink. Starting tomorrow.

They may stupid, but they are not greedy like you.

All you can think about is your puny $20,000 in 401(k).

As for the stock market, the last time a Democrat was in the White House, the NASDAQ was 5,000. Now it is half of that.

American voted for Democrats not because of thier 401(k).

They voted for Democrats because there are thousands of young American boys dying in Iraq.

Of course, your two young sons are safe at home. So you have the time and luxury to count the money in your 401(k).

By the way, I heard the Tory may be coming back. If you hate American liberals so much, you might want to pack up and go back to England.
