Poll are just snapshots in time, but this one is pretty hard to ignore. Matches the Gallop historical low.

18% approval and 76% disapproval. Pretty abysmal I'd say

Wonder why? My guess is a big part of it is for not opposing the administration's policies actively enough.

Why then? Is congress unpopular for not supporting the very popular War in Iraq? Are they unpopular for not pushing Bush's popular immigration plan? His popular Social Security plan? No, this congress was elected to serve as a counterweight to this administration, and so far they've rolled over and given them everything. I guarantee if they passed articles of impeachment tomorrow, their approval rating would double.

    Bush's popular immigration plan? HUH!?

And if their approval rating woud double, it would still be below 40%.

Absolutely not. The system was designed by the Founders to be tweaked as we need it. Our problem is the non-outrage and apathy from the general populace toward our representatives (of both parties) and their selfish and self-serving practices.

Tell me, what have they done besides a few minor things? Absolutely nothing. They just sit there, with their golden toilet... yelling at each other and disagreeing.
Oh, and also tried to ram that "bush" immigration bill down our throats without letting us know what it was.

Now that my inadequite mind has caught up...

they SHOULD be enforceing our laws. Build the wall and kick out illegals are starters... Perhaps even more laws against hireing of illegal immigrents.

First, congress doesn't "enforce laws", the executive does. Congress writes laws.

That notwithstanding, you're saying that all Congress should be doing is worrying about immigration? 435 Representitives, 100 Senators, and they should just focus on ONE issue? That would improve their approval ratings?

    What should Bush be doing?

In a way, creating laws enforces them. By making it illegal to hire... illegals - and putting stiff fines and whatnot, that DOES enforce our laws that make the illegals - illegal.

And Immigration is a BIG deal... one issue? This is possible the most important issue of them all. This is an ENGLISH speaking country with AMERICAN citizens. We are a NATION - or at least, we should be.

The sense of patriotism, the sense of competition - the sense of everything! it's all been taken away from our country. The biggest single issue for america - is being america. Perhaps congress could also ... you know... do what the PEOPLE want. WE do not want to legalize all illegals... WE do not want our brothers sisters fathers and mothers who diedi n iraq to of died in vein. They are fighting over there so I don't have to have my head cut off here, get the drift?

If congress would even do ... ANYTHING remotely close to their responsibilites... then perhaps they would have a better approval raiting. As of right now, they are lacking.

Actually, I support gay marriage 100%... don't see why it shouldn't be legal.

Hehe... yeah, it's still me. I am just infuriated at a few of the things going on around the country... This whole thing that happened in Newark, NJ kinda hit home when I found out illegals where the ones who killed our people.
And the sad thing is i bet it happens all the time.

I think they are unpopular because they more time bloviating, spinning, and blamming a, then actually doing anything. They have not done crap so far.
