Tonight Channel 7 - Boston new had a breaking news story that 13 NBA
refs were involved in the Gambling ring.

Looks like Donaghy's was not the only greedy fool.

This is a major blow to the NBA.

I cannot find any links, but it was on the news tonight as a breaking
    news story.

If true, this is the worst thing to happen in pro sports possibly ever...

Happened multiple times in the NCAA, happened in baseball, been happening in boxing and soccer for years...just the tip of the ice burg for sports.

Has as much to do with politics as the global warming and economics threads that are constantly popping up here

Then again considering the original poster your questioning of the legitimacy of it being here is no surprise

Well at least channel 7 had the integrity to add this

to the bottom of the story. I'm going to need corroboration before I see these accusations as more than a ploy to sell books.

America has to hit Rock Bottom before it "comes back"

There is no hope for Boxing.

Look at the people we now have running Congress.

Watch what happens in NYC when the Terrorist Supporters hit town for the big trial (Bush will be on trial also)

If anyone watched the 2002 Lakers vs. Kings game 6 western conference finals game 6, you will know that the NBA and its officials rigged that game.

Remember when our kids were growing up and we were told "if you want to keep them out of trouble get them involved in sports"..............:singing::singing:

If true it's the biggest sports scandal in all sports history, and also explains so much over the past 10 years.

Before that game I would have told you that you were nuts for making that accusation. After watching that game and particularly that 4th quarter, I am firmly in your corner....

YouTube - The Greatest Tragedy in Sports part 7
Watch the 9 minute video, which opens with Kobe bloodying Mike Bibby's nose with a flagrant elbow and Bibby getting called for the foul and tell me it didn't stink to high heaven.

The only problem I have with all of this is you can watch almost every NBA game and find a reason the refs were biased either way ... it's the nature of the league. As I always say ... if a game can be or will be decided by a ref then you can't really say you deserved to win anyways. I hate complaining about refs ... if you think they're biased then play harder. Professional sports are supposed to be for adults, not babies.

There are a lot of threads in this forum that are not political.

Then again..... Mr Policeman, maybe you should practice what you preach.

Look at this sad thread started by PressCoverage....
    http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/12/284980-gosh-wheres-rev-lovejoy.html

Did that crap really need a thread of it's own?

If true my thread covered one of the biggest sports scandal of the past
90 years. I cannot think of a worst scandal since the blacksox scandal of
    1919.

Although this is a political forum, most members are sports fans.

Well, sunshine... It's not that I'm trying to "police" anything, so you can spare us all the dramatics...

It's more about trying to understand your motive. Afterall, there IS an NBA forum all it's own. There is NOT a forum for missing regulars, so your parallel is rather weak.

    Icy,
I hear you but every once in a while there is something that just goes way beyond the pale. Every single call went against Sacramento in that 4th quarter, maybe 20 or more and some were so egregious that I rank it right after the '72 Olympic Men's basketball game as a sham. If you get screwed on one or two questionable calls, maybe it's the odds but when it's so biased that no reasonable person can conclude otherwise....you have to believe in something nefarious...Watch the video of that 4th quarter (posted earlier) and you'll see what I mean.

Seemed nasty ... I'd like to see the 4th quater unedited ... I have to find it and watch. Kind of gives me more reason to despise Shaq and Kobe. I remember pulling for the Kings in that one.

I remember one of the Bulls & Jazz playoff games that the refs did everthing under the sun to give the game to the Bulls. Stockton hit a 3 pointer and the replay showed the ball was at least 3 feet out of his hand when the 24 second clock expired. They called it a 24 second violation.

On the other hand they credited Jordan for a 3 pointer when the ball was still in his hand when the 24 second clock ran
    out. They counted the basket.

I do not remember which year, but it was before they used replay reviews.

The Bulls/Jazz game was bad but, the Lakers and Sacramento game 6 was the worst officiated game I have ever seen.
