Take away the Buffalo TD on the first play of the year and tonight's ST TD and that is what our Defense has actually allowed.

That is an amazing number regardless of the competition and to think it could be much lower if it wasn't for 4 brain farts by our secondary early in the year.

Really, is that good?

Nah let's spend some money on some big name FA. That should please the chicken little's because it is a win-win situation for them. Because if the FA plays lights out they can say...see I told you we should be signing big name guys; and if the guy sucks they can BB/Pioli have lost look another bust FA.

The defense was outstanding tonight!! Does Rodney's interception put him at 32 for his career?

I don't remember, but leave it to Rodney, he needed a sack to get his double 30. I just don't get that guy's thinking. :D

How many sacks for TBC? Nfl.com gamething was stuck on 2, but I saw 2 in one sequence.

Two might be right, he should also get a couple hurries, the third one you're thinking of he forced Bollinger up and Sey got him.

Great job by the defense tonight, no points allowed on D and made some big pig stops when they needed it.

Yes, the defense has been good. But the points-against stat is a little misleading in that they've benefitted from the nicely low level of giveaways by the offense, especially the field-shortening kind.

On the plus side, after a lousy start the defense is doing very nicely in takeaways more recently.

Yeah, it's a good defense. ;)

How is it misleading? Team "A" didn't get into team "B's" endzone more than "X" amount of times. I would say that is cut and dry and nothing there is misleading.

And for the record our offense has never been much of a charity.

here is the amount of their giveaways by season

2003 - 24
2004 - 27
2005 - 24
2006 - 8

If we use your point, then this defense is even better than that of 03 and 04 statistically, because those teams allowed 17 ppg.

It's hard to imagine after the start they had, but this is the best defensive performance (if it holds up) of the BB era. I'm sure that next week the D will give up a bit more than the past few weeks, but then again I thought the same about the Cincy game and that was only 13 points. Who knows.

Either way, it's been a great start to the season for the defense. And if it holds up for the full season it'll be an amazing year for that unit.
