Indeed. Zappe was the worst QB in the league by DVOA last year, worse than Bryce Young, and far worse than Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, and Justin Fields -- who were all of them terrible.
I don't recall hearing that at all. There were certainly many of us who weren't convinced that Brady > Bledsoe before the playoffs in 2001, but after that there was no question that BB made the right choice. But there remained doubts about Brady's ceiling until 2003, and it wasn't until after...
Mac will likely look much better in training camp than (say) Zappe does because he's actually quite skilled abstractly.
The problem is that he will likely still collapse under pressure in game situations.
Mac is a goner in this league unless he can demonstrate he's no longer prone to yips.
I enjoyed the first three episodes, but the start of episode four convinced me to stop watching.
It's bad enough coping with the venomous gloat suffusing this board; don't need more feel-bad blame-assignment/credit-taking for the team's historic success.
We have heard multiple times that filming the opposing coaches from a designated place on the sideline was legal -- true or untrue?
A cut to the game clock was at worst only a labor saving convenience, since cameras always have real time clocks superimposed so a recording of just the game clock...
So far, it is more than fair to Belichick.
I hadn't remembered until this video that Belichick's refusal to reinstate Bledsoe was so controversial to the point that Kraft basically told him he would be fired if they didn't win with Brady that season. And right after that threat from Kraft...
Besides the age problem, Belichick's market is non-existent because of his arrogant insistence on being GM as well.
That's why he lost the Atlanta job.
There are now exactly zero NFL coaches who are also the GM. Bill has declared himself the enemy of every team with an established GM. And what...
The only way for the Belichick boys to prove they are more than nepo hires -- and they were by definition nepo hires-- is to be successful without Dad.
Huge insult to Lamar who was the 7th ranked passer by DVOA this year. Fields was 30th, slightly above Mac Jones who was 31st (Zappe was last in the league, 36th of 36).
By total production (DYAR) including rushing, Lamar was 7th overall, Fields was 29th of 36.
Fields is an idiot man's Lamar...
I believe that ironically Mac has adequate athleticism and accuracy to be successful off platform, but the times when he is forced to extend the play is the time he is maximally prone to panic so he makes bad decisions and throws.
Firstly, I think the answer has to be no for the Pats.
I think the offense has too many non-QB problems to become good next year even if all the high draft capital and free agency windfall are primarily applied to the offense. There are too many problems with both the OL and skill positions to...
Mac's continuous panic attack of a season led him to be the 30th ranked QB by DVOA this year at -21.8%.
Truly awful.
Somehow, Zappe managed to be even worse, 36th out of 36 by DVOA with an incredible -43.5% DVOA.
2023 QB DVOA (pay walled)
I guessed at 200 attempts as a cutoff, resulting in a...
