Ty Law
Let me re-state: The issue was giving Ty Law a 10 mil signing bonus. I said the 10 mil up front was not the problem, but the salary per year after that was the monkey wrench. So I proposed that the Pats should give him the 10 mil up front as a signing bonus and pay him 2 mil a...
Passing set-ups..
Another reason why intelligence and route running is so important that hasn't been discussed is passing set-ups. Happens in every offensive series in the NFL. Even in High School, the better coaches work certain patterns on the defense in order to "set-up" big plays later...
10 mil...no problem
I don't think the 10 mil signing bonus for 3 yrs is a problem if he plays for 2 mil a year after that. 16 mil / 3 yrs = 5.3 mil average. But he wants 10 mil to sign and 7.5 mil a year too!!! 10.8 mil a year average. Not happening.
Damon
They actually cheered more than booed when he came out in the first inning, especially when he tipped his batting helmet. But, really, this is Boston. That's all he gets. He'll hear the boo's from now on, and that's as it should be. I'm old enough to remember one year when YAZ came...
The other possible move..
Of course, they didn't have to give him the long term deal or worry about FA. They could have just franchised him for the next 3 years in a row, and they would have actually saved money. For example:
AV got a 3.5 mil signing bonus and 2.5 mil per season on a 3...
Oliver Hoyte and Mike Kudla Sign
Oliver Hoyte signed with the Vikings and Mike Kudla signed with the Steelers. Steelers plan to make him a LB. These are two guys I liked for the Pats.
Ahmad Brooks
Following to ACC as closely as I do, I can tell you this. Ahmad was going to come out, but he had an injury and he was talked out of it by several people. They convinced him that 2006 was so deep in LB's, that he would be crazy to come out now. I think that was good logic...
Very True
It wasn't only the FSU game. He didn't straighten out until the 6th game of the season, then he had a good rest of the year, until the Peach Bowl. We shouldn't forget that he started as a tight end at the U. He may turn out fine at RT after 2-3 years or so, but he's not going to...
This, I accept...
This is an acceptable explanation. I am grateful to you. Actually, I like the explanation posted before yours, as well. As I think about it though, I believe Patchick (Patschick) sic, had a good point. Maybe the truth is that the front office is really battling it out...
Another Question...
OK, but if the jets want matt or vince that badly, wouldn't any uncertainty about who the titans will select actually force them to move up to #2, thereby working against the titans strategy of throwing up a screen to keep teams guessing about who they pick ? (forgive...
Correct, but.....
Correct. But there was also a lot of talk about the Pats moving up to 5th (or there abouts) to select Sean Taylor. Being down here in Miami, that was the big rumor in the Miami Herald. I remember being very excited. It's strange that Sean turned out to be such a head...
Question...
Just a question...Why would the Titans want to create a smoke screen about whether or not they will be taking Vince or Matt? At #3, they have their pick anyway. If they were picking in the 4-7 range, I could understand some mis-direction. I know a few of you must have...
Dolphins Take a RB Early??
Actually, with Ricky gone for a year, the Dolphins do need a running back. But it won't be early. There was some talk in the Miami area that Saban will wait for the June 1 cuts and pick up a veteran back-up that won't mind being a part-timer behind Ronnie Brown...
Interesting Poll
I find it very interesting and revealing that 2/3 rds of the respondents feel that management is the most important element. We are blessed to have such a great owner and coach. I am old enough to vividly remember the Billy Sullivan days in Boston & Foxboro. What a...
Good Point
I agree with you 100%. Yes, we lost Willie but Colvin looked to be all the way back the last half of the season and moving Vrable to OLB full time would solve some problems. (Even Beisol would be better if he could play outside, rather than inside). We do need MLB help, but we...
Careful Where You Draft Roger MacIntosh
Basically, a very good list. However, I continue to caution about Roger MacIntosh. I think he rates mid-late 4th round by a team who is looking for a spot back-up and great special teams player. Roger was hurt a good deal of his career at the U...
My beloved Hurricanes haven't as much to offer the NFL this year, compared to years past. But here's what's available later this month.
Sinorice Moss - WR
I submitted a long post earlier on Sinorice. If you're interested, you can check it out. To summarize, he is a local Miami kid. Not as...
Maxey is an interesting guy
Although I am a harsh critic of the 2006 draft class for my beloved Miami Hurricanes, Marcus Maxey is turning out to be a very interesting prospect. He was a Butch Johnson recruit out of the Texas High Scool system. Nice religious kid, great character and was...
