    Furious...

I went out of town, to a location devoid of TV, internet access, even mobile service, this past weekend, and just returned to see Cassel has been traded for a second round pick? Are you $@!#ing kidding me? Tell me this is a joke or something. And Pioli was the guy boning the Pats like this? I'm...

Mangini trades Winslow away... [merged] To the Bucs for draft picks.

And another undeserving team is bounced out of the playoffs: Dolphins lose at home

The Dolphins just had the nail driven in their coffin by the Ravens, at home no less, in a game they were totally dominated in. A 6 win team that used a gimmick to sneak their way into 11 wins and the playoffs being totally exposed by a completely superior team. Now that the wildcat has been...

Well, the MVP was named, and it's a total joke: Peyton Manning, once again

Manning wins again, despite absolutely killing his team in the first half of the season. No way was he deserving this year.

    Tough loss tonight...

but it was strangely encouraging. The defense is just so raw at so many positions right now, mostly due to injuries, but that same raw youth is very talented. Mayo and Guyton are both for real, Woods is a legitimate rotation guy, Meriweather is maturing into an excellent safety, Wilhite looks...

The most important thing from this game that no one is talking about...

Why the hell was there a guy in the stands dressed in Vikings garb with purple face paint? Randy ran right to him on his second touchdown celebration for the jump into the stands. Seriously, who dresses up like that to go to a game not featuring the team that inspired their wardrobe? Was he...

If I was a Chargers fan, I'd be pretty pissed...

After all the beatdowns the Patriots have put on the Chargers in big games, this was their chance to get a bit of revenge, only it's totally empty. It'd be like hunting down some guy that killed a member of your family, only when you find him years later, he's now a quadriplegic. Sure, you can...

Forget this, he HAS to be cut...

No, not Matt Cassel. Chris Hanson. The guy friggin' sucks. He's going to cost the Patriots field position in some key spots at this rate. At this point, I'm willing to take the Gostkowski approach and draft one in the middle rounds next year to get a half competent guy. At least the defense...

I'm getting tired of the rivalry talk...

There is no rivalry. You can't have a rivalry when one team wins every meaningful contest for years on end. The Jets are not rivals. They're just another bunch of scrubs that get rolled every year by the Patriots. That's going to be their fate again this weekend, period. Brady, Cassel, hell, get...

It's time to go back to 2004...

and the Corey Dillon-led ground game. If the Patriots are to keep winning, the offensive gameplan has to change. High-flying offense is great, and fun to watch, but it's also fragile, as has been so painfully demonstrated by Brady's injury. It results in taking lots of hits, not just by the...

Lost in the hideous news of Brady getting hurt...

was how well the defense played. Yeah, it was just the Chiefs, but they looked a lot more solid controlling the line of scrimmage and tackling than in preseason. They had a few breakdowns, most notably the long completion at the end, but the rookies seemed to perform admirably and in general the...

Semi-OT: Baseball takes its first page from football and uses replay...

Just used it to review an ARod homer, and the official reviewing the play blew the call. Yet another reason why I'm so glad football is returning.

    Just got back from vacation...

and I see the Patriots roster shook out largely like I expected. Being without internet access for a week sucks, I must say, I was dying to hear about the cuts. My boy Guyton made the roster, which makes me really happy. Too bad about Chad Jackson, but it's not entirely surprising, nor is it...

    O'Connell in before Gutierrez...

Very interesting. I think this is more a vote of confidence for Guts than anything else. Cassel really may not be long for the team.

    It's been a while...

...,since I wasn't about to wade through the morass here (or anywhere) following the Pats' last game, but today was enough to bring me out of posting seclusion. Today's my birthday, and it seems I'm getting a double birthday present - the Pats' first preseason game is played today, and Mr...

My last thread for the day, and a prediction...

The Patriots are going to redefine the term "beatdown" in this Superbowl. The Giants are going to be blindsided, and the game will be over before halftime. 56-14, Patriots destroy the Giants and hit 19-0 with ease.

Lakers just ripped off the Grizzlies...

Pau Gasol for the pu-pu (or should I say, poo-poo) platter of Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenden, and two first round picks this year and 2010. What an absolute fleecing, the league shouldn't let that go through. With Kobe, Odom, Gasol and a healthy Bynum, the Lakers are serious contenders again.

In one sentence, Nick Kaczur rockets up my all-time favorite Patriots list...

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/hashmarks/0-5-192/Shocking-statement.html It's like pure, distilled essence-of-offensive lineman in a ten word package.

    Stop The Presses!

I can't believe it, but on ESPN right now, Mark Schlereth just said that he was wr-wr-wr.... wr-wr-wr-wr.... wr-wr-WRONG! I think that's the first time I've ever heard that out of an ESPN windbag. He thought that if the Jaguars kept the Patriots to stuff underneath, the Pats would get frustrated...

Brady a microcosm of the season...

Flawless tonight. What a game for him. Only two incomplete passes, both of which should have been caught, and one should have been negated by an interference penalty. Adds up to just another record in his increasingly huge collection.
