We saw a couple of years ago that the Patriots were willing to draft Dominique Easley coming off of a torn ACL, as it offered a chance to get a good value on a player who likely would have been gone by that point under normal circumstances. Lately, I'm wondering if that sort of approach is a...
This is a prime draft to move out of in my opinion, mostly because the roster is already pretty loaded with talent but to a lesser extent because many of the available players/values don't really match with the team's needs/requirements. Based on my latest 53-man roster projection, the guys who...
I think it will be hard for the team to find someone who can come in and make immediate contributions at tackle; however, there might be some solid value left toward the end of the third round or in the first half of the third day. Someone like Kyle Murphy could make sense. While he's not great...
Re: Could The Signing Of Jeff Demps With The Patriots Signal The End For Julian Edelm
I would be very surprised if Julian Edelman was left off of the final 53-man roster. He's a great punt returner, developing as a slot receiver, and played defensive back in a pinch last year. Demps was also...
I'm on the fence regarding Deaderick. The Patriots don't seem like they will be running as many three-man fronts and Deaderick's value in the 4-3 is relatively limited. At this point I'd rather have Ron Brace of the two, although maybe New England will keep both players.
At this point I'm still hopeful that Waters will return, but Andre Carter seems unlikely to re-sign at this point due to a combination of age, injury, and rumored financial demands.
Early on in the process it seemed like New England would carry a fullback, but Larsen has missed considerable time. At this point his best chance to make the roster would be to beat out Brandon Bolden; what are the chances that New England carries six players in their backfield?
I would like to see Alfonzo Dennard and Nate Ebner make the final roster, but neither was on the team in my last roster projection. Dennard has missed too much time due to injury and it seems like the Patriots have a bigger special teams role planned for James Ihedigbo (four units in week one)...
Here's what I have at the moment:
Defensive Line (10): Vince Wilfork, Kyle Love, Jonathan Fanene, Ron Brace, Brandon Deaderick, Chandler Jones, Rob Ninkovich, Jake Bequette, Jermaine Cunningham, Trevor Scott
Linebacker (6): Jerod Mayo, Dont’a Hightower, Brandon Spikes, Bobby Carpenter...
Demps seems like a lock, and Bolden seems to have a fair shot as well. At this point I would be surprised to see Marcus Forston or Justin Francis on the final 53-man roster. Vince Wilfork, Kyle Love, and Jonathan Fanene are locks at defensive tackle, and Forston is probably behind Ron Brace...
Hey everyone, Matthew Jones from NEPatriotsDraft here. I just finished up another article, this time on Oklahoma S Tony Jefferson, which you can find on the NEPatriotsDraft homepage.
I also have clips of Oklahoma's defense from the Florida State game up on Youtube for anyone interested in...
