I would not be surprised if we trade Mallet for a 2013 3rd and 2014 2nd/1st, and use our own 3rd rounder to move up in the first round in order to get an "X" receiver.
I think a fair price for Mallet would be either a high 2013 second round pick (which the Browns don't have), a 2014 1st round pick, or a swap of picks in the 2013 first round.
There is no point trading him for a 3rd rounder - better to have him as backup.
I would try and obtain a probable...
I think that the question of trading Mallett depends on the answers to two fluid and interlinked questions:
1 - Does it make sense to let him go from a football perspective; and
2 - Does the value obtained by trading him make sense from a roster building perspective vis-a-vis not trading...
1 - Re-sign our key FA's.
Agreed - at the right price. I think Welker is well worth a 3 year deal, no more than 4. We should look after him.
If we get a low 2 or high 3 for Hoyer i would take it, and use it to trade up in 2013.
2 - Wide Receiver
Yes, i am very keen on Brandon Lloyd...
re: Early spitballing: trade Mallett & two 1sts to move up to #6?
I would Trade Mallett for the #6 OVR pick. He was touted as 1st round talent last year and has had a quiet, trouble free year under Brady et al in 2011.
Perhaps it is a little early this season but in 2013 i think he has 1st...
Yeah - I don't get it when people slate Mayo. He is one of the best LB's in the NFL - and he and Spikes make a great Combo at ILB in a 3-4.
I think in FA we need to look to address 4 priorities to set ourselves up for the draft and in 2012. We already have a lot of cap room in 2012, and we...
I really like Zach Brown. If we manage to get a big boy in the middle at #27 (e.g. if Brookers falls to us) i would take him as a speed rush and TE coverage man at #32.
We should be able to make this a mostly home game. There will be plenty of fans of teams that will cheer against the Pats - but i think that as the most popular NFL team in the UK there will be a lot of noise for us on 3rd down...
Walt's latest draft looks good for us, but i agree that Brookers will go higher than No.27OVR.
With the first 4 picks, I would like us to prioritise the defence. I would like a DE/DT (Brookers I hope!!) and a DE/OLB (Ingram). I would like a CB at the pick 2a and BPA at 2b (a centre...
