When we drafted Vereen we had one healthy running back under contract, Woodhead. (Faulk was hurt, BJGE was a free agent and since there was no CBA we couldn't be sure we'd be able to get him back.)
I do agree that drafting two backs if you're actually legitimately planning to bring Faulk...
You won't find that many irrational people who will argue that.
BMW/Chung/Dowling/Wheatley/DMC/Butler/Wilhite are all in their first contracts; you should have at least four starting caliber DBs from using that many high picks. Add a big contract for Bodden and you should have five or more...
1.) Even if he doesn't displace Vollmer/Light, Solder's going to get to start a lot of games in future years. You're not just drafting a guy for 2011.
2.) It certainly was reported that Sanders, Wilhite and BMW were out of shape. Injuries were a problem for Wilhite and Sanders that might...
You essentially have to pick either your coach (say Urban Meyer: I don't think you upgrade on Belichick with a Gruden or Cowher-you have to think a little outside of the box) or your personnel guy (some assistant GM somewhere like DeCosta in Baltimore) and then let them heavily shape who else...
This is idiotic.
Of course he has the cajones. Kraft has shown this again and again. He had the guts to pull Tuna's personnel authority. He had the guts to replace Tuna with a not particularly popular failed head coach in PC, and then after he fired PC he had the guts to give an unpopular...
The problem is people are just massively exaggerating his injury history. He missed 8 or 9 games in college, all with unrelated injuries. Tons of college players miss more college games than that (Bradford, Suh, Cromartie, David Harris, and Gronk come to mind).
Calling him Glass-Ir...
It's hard for me to see Dowling to the IR unless his injury is much worse than we think-he's been able to practice some, there are ten games left in the season (plus playoffs) and he is a starter when healthy.
Sure, Lewis is a surefire hall of famer and Mayo is an excellent starter but nowhere near a hall of fame player (at least not yet).
I'm not sure what the point is: BB sucks because he hasn't drafted multiple hall of famer caliber players? If BB was a better drafter the Pats would have...
I don't like your word "special" but I certainly think there are players whose attitudes would work better in NE than elsewhere (Ninkovich) and guys who would do worse in NE than they'd do elsewhere.
Lets take Adalius Thomas. He was a great fit in Baltimore, and was immensely productive...
It's the same thinking as they used when they got Gronk
Guess how many games Gronk missed due to injury in college: 16.
Guess how many games Dowling has missed in college due to injury? 8 or 9. You add up all his injuries for four years of college, his PG year, and his two years on the...
Even if he could pick up the playbook (lets assume he could), is he the kind of football grinder who does well in the Pats environment?
BB is a great coach but he's not a great coach for everybody--maybe give Tomlin some credit for being a great coach for this guy.
Re: BB Dropping the Hint: Load Up The Canon!!!!!!
350 is really, really big for a RG (or even a RT) in the Pats' offense--very few people can pull, zone block, etc. with that kind of weight. There's a reason we've never had linemen anywhere close to that weight.
Lets hope he's the truly...
4th through 6th actually.
The 2007 first and the 2008 draftees would be the only ones still on their rookie contracts.
Drafts matter a great deal but only for a short period of time, and we're out of that window for 2006 and 2007.
What does this even mean? Do you mean they were damaged goods due to fragility before they played? If so, what's your evidence?
Just because Wheatley got hurt or Dowling has been hurt doesn't mean they were fragile or injury prone-do you have any support for this other than your say-so...
But Rex isn't Belichick; he's made a big point of players being able to say what they want up until now.
It turns out you can only speak out if you're one of his favorite guys.
This is just crap.
Wilhite, Samuel and Chung were healthy in college (as were BMW and DMC).
Wheatley redshirted a year but was healthy his other four.
Dowling was healthy his first three years before having injury issues his fourth year.
