Was futzing with a draft simulator and this scenario played out. Turned 3, 34, and next year's 1st into Alt and Maye. Interesting scenario.
Doubt it would happen in real life since the key was the Jets 10th pick and they walked away with Pats 2025 1st.
I think it depends on how you view him. When I saw the contract, my first thought was "that's tackle money" so he's our RT. If you view him as a guard, you would say its a overpay though it would be inline with the elite guards. Shaq Mason signed at just under 12 mil per and Thurney is at 16...
1st season was 4-12 so that puts the rest of his time at 14-18. Sub .500 but we know he's a borderline starter, solid backup. 51:23 TD:INT ratio so he doesn't kill you with bad mistakes. At 31, in his QB "prime" but mature enough to play his part. Not too bad for a mentor. Pretty much says...
Drew Bledsoe, Curtis Martin, Terry Glenn, Troy Brown, Bruce Armstrong, Ben Coates, Teddy Bruschi, Ty Law, Lawyer Milloy, Chris Slade
team wasn't too shabby...to bad that Parcells punted the game since he was already out the door.
I agree to a point. 4th is a little early but it's borderline where you might focus on team needs and players you really like. Day 1&2 draft is so different than day 3. It's almost like there are two sets of rules/guidelines.
