    Reactions to “The Dynasty”

Can't believe Belichick threw the Superbowl because Butler was possibly rude to his little Stevie who only had a job due to blatant nepotism and is now struggling as DC of the Huskies

How Belichick lost his place in posterity

Yeah right. Why don't you watch Episode 9 of The Dynasty again. Watch us get creamed in Super Bowl LII again. Watch Tom throw 500+ yards while our defense gets destroyed. Watch Kraft confirm it was a personal issue that BB had with Butler and nothing to do with his play. Watch Amendola say he's...

How Belichick lost his place in posterity

This discussion is mostly about BB's record WITHOUT Brady. I would say your post which basically points to Belichick's success WITH Brady is superfluous, and was a digression. So pardon my jibe when you were being sly yourself.

How Belichick lost his place in posterity

The figures are not hearsay. Here you go. See below. NBC source says Brady wanted 2 years at $50m and never got it. So that's your source. And last deal Pats signed was effectively a 1 year at $23m in 2019 (with 2020 and 2021 voidable). So instead of giving him 2 years at $50m they gave him 1...

How Belichick lost his place in posterity

It worked out well for Tom. But it didn't work out well for us Pats fans. And that's the bitterness. And Belichick's judgment is to blame. That's it.

How Belichick lost his place in posterity

“We worked for Bill, but we played for Tom.” Danny Amendola And Belichick chose not to extend him for $2m less per year and an added year. Come on!

How Belichick lost his place in posterity

Noone's forcing you to read or respond to this thread. And I believe that discussions such as these, and thousands others in similar forums, online and in-person, will collectively determine BB and Brady's legacy, now that their careers just ended. Hence I believe it's a contribution to that...

How Belichick lost his place in posterity

Tom never had a bad season. Never. All the way till he stopped playing. Yes it was stupid not to extend him and lock him up. Yes he asked for a 2 year extension going into his last year (so would be 3 years including the last year) and the team offered 1 year. And yes the numbers about $23m for...
  9. Biffins

How Belichick lost his place in posterity

Yeah since he wanted a 2 year extension at $25m per year and the team offered 1 year only at $23m. So he then rejected that extension. That was clearly the team's choice to not give a 2 year extension. It was clearly the team's choice to stupidly determine he was a risk with a 2 year contract...

How Belichick lost his place in posterity

Noone said BB didn't contribute to those wins. Or other regular wins. In fact Tom's win % without BB is lower, drops from 77% to 65%, so clearly BB was not useless and did have some positive impact. I included that in the original post and said as much.
  11. Biffins

How Belichick lost his place in posterity

Great. So we agree. All I am pointing out that Belichick (the GM and HC) made a glaring and spectacularly stupid mistake, same as you just agreed with. And BTW this spectacular folly was quite obvious to a lot of us and there are reams and reams of threads here talking about this when Tom was...
  12. Biffins

How Belichick lost his place in posterity

Au contraire, It's the "free" in free agent that's confusing you. Tom should never have been allowed to be a free agent. Negotiations between the teams in the last 2 years broke down. He wanted a two year extension and Belichick refused to give it, arguing that Tom's age doesn't warrant it...

How Belichick lost his place in posterity

Lowballing Tom, or not giving him 2 years like he wanted, was akin to pushing him out. Tom didn't choose to leave. Sorry but please no revisionist history here.
  14. Biffins

How Belichick lost his place in posterity

Yeah right. That's why he did so many documentaries with NFL Films. Because he doesn't care about posterity............
  15. Biffins

How Belichick lost his place in posterity

He was so supportive he made Gronk retire than play for him
  16. Biffins

How Belichick lost his place in posterity

Maybe he should have kept Tom then instead of trying to prove he can win without Tom and having egg on his face. I bet if BB kept Brady, had 3 more winning seasons WITH Brady, and then kept coaching without Brady with same success as he had as last 4 years, he would have managed to limp to...
  17. Biffins

How Belichick lost his place in posterity

I read it. So the context for BB's poor performance without Brady is 1. Special teams are less important now, disadvantage BB 2. Staff got poached after success. 3. BB spread himself too thin doing GM and Coach job While there's some truth to the special teams point, please note that ANY team...

How Belichick lost his place in posterity

Brady won more Superbowls (1) without BB than Marino (0) did. As many as Rodgers (1) did. Meanwhile BB won less playoff games (1) without Brady than Rex Ryan did (4).

I do live in Surrey, southwest of London. So the Britain part is accurate!!

Come on. Noone will ever hire him again.
