I liked your mock so much, and gave so much attention to your comments, to be fair, that I changed my own mock. Here's the new one:
1A - Heyward, Ohio St, DL
I like Dareus/Farley/Bailey better, but I bet they won't be there. So the Patriots go to the next guy who, in my opnion, could be a...
Thanks, brother OTG! Glad you liked it.
I wouldn't mind drafting Carter at the 3rd, really. I have high hopes for this kid.
Oh, you're too glad. Glad you liked it.
Ingram is my prospect too, but I really doubt the Dolphins will left him on the board if given the chance. Still, Leshoure looks...
There's quite some posts I'd like to chime in, but I'll have to do it later because I'm posting from my mobile and, quite frankly, it sucks.
Well, yesterday I went to bed late (what wasn't such a good idea, 'cause I had to wake up at five this morning) and managed to pull a new draft together...
I agree that the Steelers and Colts draft well, and I believe this new salary cap era put planning over talent, so teams like that will eventually become the cream of the crop... but to put the Steelers and Colts above the Patriots might be too much.
I see Belichick's drafts as being...
I'd add Farley to this very exclusive list. But it's very likely he'll also be gone by the Raiders' pick.
So I don't see any possible 3-4 DE worth spending a 1rst rounder on. Maybe Cameron Heyward, if Belichick thinks he can teach the kid to pass rush.
I hope you're right, OTG! I think, btw, that this case of being way too much under the microscope is what happened to Heyward, making his stock fall. He surely isn't a top 5 prospect as he was being hyped, but not a 1rst-to-2nd rounder like he's being evaluated right now.
Oh, Nick Farley are two veeery good words. Still, he's been having such a monster year, such a Suh-like year, that I guess he might br a top 5 pick or so. I'm already seeing some mocks with him in the top 10, and the sky seems to be the limit for him. So, if Farley or Dareus are around at 1A, to...
Bowers is a better fit for a 4-3, like Taxed said, and I don't think he'll fall to 1A, sadly.
And I'm not a Michael Floyd fan at all. I only watched his tape from 2009, when he did the same play over and over again (and while he surely can run a streak, his route running looks poor, and it's...
I agree, Wilf! And adding some Alabama players will surely add even more of a "winning mentality" to the team, just like adding Florida players did last year. And then again, Saban makes 'Bama a Belichick-friendly program.
Yeah, but come 2011 as few as one of these guys could be starting. Light will be a free agent and he has struggled against speed rushers more and more every year, Mankins will be gone and Connolly has been benched, Koppen gets killed by NTs in a division where everyone plays the 3-4, and Vollmer...
About McGinest, I don't believe we'll see another "elephant" like him playing OLB. He was drafted by Parcells, and Belichick already said what he looks for in OLBs.
I totally agree with the "3 NTs" possibility, but I like Siona Fua from Stanford better.
Oh, and about Heyward, he sure isn't as...
That is a great statement, the team is solid but unspectacular. That's how the Patriots used to win, so we can't really complain. If anything, I'd like to see this upcoming draft strengthening the trenches.
As jsull87 said later on his post, the defense could very well be set.
But about BJGE...
You could be right about the CBs, I haven't researched much or watched video at all on them, since I think it'd be overkill to get another one. McCourty is one hell of a player, and has been a playmaker for the past two games.
I'd like to have a top DE or OLB fall to the Oakland pick, but I...
That's true. I can see us entering the 2011 draft with very few or none at all needs outside of the OL.
I wouldn't like a CB pick with 1A at all. Bodden is coming back, and pairing him with McCourty will make a great tandem. As badly as some people hate Arrington and Butler, they sure can play...
Well put! But I'd go even further and add every player from UF, Iowa, Fresno State, 'Bama and Rutgers. Belichick has inside information on those teams from being close to their head coaches, and he's been using it well, specially in the 2010 draft: one player from Rutgers, one from Alabama and...
I think the Raiders' success is tied to Darren McFadden's health - so odds are they'll falter.
But I'm not so sure their remaining stretch is that tough: Seattle and Kansas City before their bye, so they could go to rest while being anywhere from 5-4 to 3-6. Then they end the season with...
Brother Off the Grid, thanks a lot for the pics and the nice words! I'm glad you liked my mock.
I really liked those pics, specially Ingram's.
The term "flanker" is pretty interesting too, and cooler than "outside linebacker". I don't even like "linebacker" that much, to be honest.
Thanks...
[...and here's the always exciting lower picks!]
05. Joe Lefeged, SS, Rutgers
A playmaking strong safety and special teams ace, McCourty's former teammate may not be the fastest or the strongest, but he's tough and smart - and that's a Patriot in my book. He's also another guy from a...
