Just watched the youtube clips of him. Like that he didn't go for the knockout and made good solid leg tackles. Solid tackler and uses his arms to wrap up and none of this shoulder hitting crap where you see guys bounce off and go for another 5 to 10 yards.
We agree to disagree, I give the people on this board a little more credit than you do.
I rather read some of the write ups on this board than listen to the players or the media.
The training camps threads on this board are beyond detailed.
In the end football is a kids game played by...
In that Phins game they went base 3-4 and it was a disaster and not sub-package. They ran at Jones all game and they gave up chunk plays. Questions in the media that week were why did they stick with it when it clearly was obvious he couldn't hold up. People on this message board were going...
Your argument comes up short and I call it the Barry Sanders argument. Yeah Sanders rushed for 2000 yards, but did nothing when it counted. Jones sacks typically come in the first half of the season against weaker competition and he is no where to be found in the 2nd half of the season. Also...
Then you are just repeating the same process over and over again. Rookies are use to a college schedule and not the length of a NFL season. Past history would show you BB has a system for O-linemen, Neal, Connolly, and Wendell. BB always says players are much better in year 2 than year 1...
They are not drafting a OG in the 2nd round, it is not happening. BB likes his draft from last year and he always says a player makes a huge jump in their 2nd year. Tre Jackson is going to be the starter with Kline rotating in which I can't stand. Coach Scar hand picked these guys.
Solder...
I found an older stat from 2000 to 2014 the Pats are 38-1 when rushing for over a 100 yards a game. Sums it up for me. Go get a beast in the back field.
Game Notes: Patriots improve to 38-1 when a Patriot reaches 100-yards rushing
Hands down for me its #1. Main reason think about 20+ more runs a game instead of passes. That's 20+ less hits a game that Gronk, Jules, and the other wr's are taking a game. Now you add that up over entire season that is a sh!t ton less hits. Now that is also less hits on the QB as well...
Great post and I agree with you 100%. Its not about the names that have been mentioned its about the mindset. Mason and Jackson are good in the run game and they were forced to be pass blockers. I would love to see Mason and Jackson ear hole a LB's down field.
A topic not giving much run...
Sorry I didn't read through all the posts. My take is I would trade him in a heart beat. He doesn't show up when its money time. He has 1 career sack in the post season and the only reason why he got that 1 sack is the O-linemen on Seahawks didn't block him. He disappears in the second half...
He will never be the center for this team, they are 2 deep at C. What your not looking at is the Pats became a pass happy team and they put all their linemen in a 2-point stance for the entire game. Where Mason and Jackson are at their best is pulling and getting down field and hitting LB's...
The espn splits on Jones are very telling. All his sacks this year have come when the Pats have been winning or tied, he has 0 sacks when they have been trailing. In the last 6 games of the season he finished with 2 sack and both came against Tenn. Has zero sacks on grass and all of them have...
The problem is when Josh and BB both said he is the most athletic OG they have ever coached. I think that is a solid endorsement that they see upside with him. He was a 1st year player and if you want to use being a 1st player against him then you would have say the same things about Hightower...
I couldn't disagree more with this post. By all accounts Mason was by far the best O-linemen on the field for Pats. I didn't really see him struggling out there and saw time after time Kline getting his lunch handed to him. The beat guys already did stats and he by far graded out the best of...
I just don't see BB taking an OG this high. He always talks about that 2nd year jump and he more than likely feels that Jackson and Mason will make that jump.
Yes, how many times did they try to go deep with LeFell this year. Should tell you everything you need to know. Also they have been looking at WR's in the draft the last few years and how many different WR's have they had on the practice squad.
I liked Coates from Auburn and he would have...
