Not hating on Guyton, but even with 60% more snaps, Spikes still has more tackles. Guyton is better vs the pass but I personally would take Spikes in running situations.
Kuhn is not in the same boat as Hillis, he's an average goal line rb. Also, if Grant wasn't hurt, Kuhn would barely touch the ball. The whole defense wasn't playing well vs Cleveland, not just Spikes. Even though Spikes is only a rookie I would take his instincts and leadership over Guyton...
Re: Are we not as far as we originallly thought?
I mean, I thought after the Giants Superbowl loss that when Brady sits in shotgun the entire game the DE's can pin their ears back and attack the quarterback, without putting any focus on the run. Personally when I watch any game in the NFL...
Re: Are we not as far as we originallly thought?
He just did support his arguments. I don't get how you can't blame the offense for any loss this year? The one offensive game plan that worked the best this year that sticks out to me the most was the Jacksonville game. NE controlled the ball...
Nice to see this has turned into a science thread. I was worried that after I took my science final on Monday I wouldn't learn about the subject anymore, then I came to Patsfans.
After watching this game, I wonder why Mayo isn't used the same as Patrick Willis is for the 49ers? It seems as though he blitz's much more than Mayo does. I am assuming that Willis has better instincts, he seems better in pass coverage, and is always flying around the ball. Is Mayo's role more...
That was coming out of the draft, obviously he is not a top left tackle in the NFL anymore. The younger, more athletic tackles such as Long, Oher, Thomas are starting to take over the position. The game has evolved into a speed game. To slow down rushers like Freeney, Tuck, Mathis, Allen, then...
Overall, for a lineman technique is the most important, but athleticism is what allows a player to have great technique. You can't have great technique throughout a game without being a great athlete in the NFL. And to say Orlando Pace is not athletic for his size is wrong.
"He laid those rumors...
Also, wasn't the offensive line a "problem" prior to Light being hurt. I think I read that numerous times while observing the board. I havn't heard that being brought up much since Light has been on the shelf, with Vollmer at LT. Yesterday after Vollmer went out with the head injury, the...
Yes, but when you add all the physical tools along with the mental part of the game it makes a great player. I also do not think at left tackle, which argueably is the first or second most important position on offense. You really can't name me an elite or top 10 tackle who is not athletic...
Yes I know this is from the Packer's but this kind of sums it up from people who know football....
Quality left tackle won't be easy for Green Bay Packers to find | greenbaypressgazette.com | Green Bay Press-Gazette
“You’re looking for a premium athlete at that left tackle spot,” Packers...
I kind of worded that wrong, I meant to say that he has had troubles with Freeney, and pretty much every other left tackle that plays Freeney has had troubles with him through his career which is obvious because hes one of the best. But, to give you credit I just checked the stats and noticed...
A lot of those were also help from Mankins on 4 man rushes. Where else should Mankins help? Koppen on their DT? Koppen did fine on him. Light as always had trouble on Freeney, along with pretty much every other LT in this league. Jason Taylor and Aaron Shoebel always give/ gave Light troubles...
And you are also attacking everyone who has a different opinion. All I am saying is time will tell with the D-Line problems, how the rest of Seymour's career will go, who the Patriots will pick in 2011 or what they will do with the pick, and most importantly if the team can win a ring or rings...
I can't wait 'til this team is holding the trophy up in February and your celebrating with your Superbowl Champions hat and exclaiming how great of a coach Belicheck is. The defense will be fine, and hopefully the team is healthy by playoff time.
Wasn't a major complaint last year about how they couldn't rush the passer? And pretty much ever since the last superbowl victory? I'm pretty sure Seymour was the anchor on that defensive line, (when he wasn't hurt of course) who did not pressure the QB. IMO Belicheck has seen the NFL evolve...
