The Patriots fans may not be too upset by it, but man, I'm annoyed here in Tampa. This would have been the most interesting home game next year... now that honor goes to... Dallas, I suppose.
I suppose I should look on the bright side: the Glazers still aren't Hugh Culverhouse.
Another thing to cheer up y'all:
Any time you hear someone talking about you 'choking' or your 'epic fail', remember that only the second one applies. Being literally within a minute of going 19-0 is epic, even in losing. No one else has been that close. Choking, as I reminded an Ohio State...
The price will be what the price is. Right now, we're taking it one dish at a time, and we're preparing for the appetizers.
I don't even want to speculate about the entrees.
In the same fashion that 'Yankee' means:
1) Any American, if you're a foreigner;
2) Anybody north of the Mason-Dixie line, if you're a southerner;
3) Anybody from New England, if you're north of the line
the "land of cotton" magically shrinks from all the South to the areas that actually...
Yah, we mailed in that one big time. Nothing left to play for except exercising the backups. Plus, Gruden wants to protect Garcia for our inevitable matchup with the New York Giants.
I'm hoping we become the beneficiaries of the "Patriots break teams" trend and get Eli to fling a bunch of picks.
The Dolphins won't be able to protect their legacy as the only undefeated team, but our place in infamy is assured. Lee Roy Selmon and the rest of the first year Bucs probably popped bottles of Mountain Dew or something to celebrate.
If an infinite number of monkeys play for an infinite number of seasons, eventually all possible records will be met. This seems to be the guiding philosophy of the Jets.
It snowed in Tampa on the weekend before Christmas 1989. The luckless Bucs of the time couldn't catch a break - we're always horrible in wintery conditions, and they came south to visit us along with the Steelers! The coke machines even froze up... I don't think the snow survived on the ground...
Re: Newsday:Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?
Apparently the rule states you can tape from any enclosed location with a roof. Does this mean anybody can videotape in a dome? </Brian>
Most non-New England/non-South states seem to run about 2-1 in favor of the Jets, or more. The Deep South states are much more even ('Bama prefers Pats, South Carolina is split, Florida is far closer than it should given the large number of Miami fans and expatriate New Yorkers in S. Florida)...
For what it's worth, Garcia doesn't look like he's unable to play when they show him, so I think the "if it were a big game" thing is true. On the other hand, Bucs-Saints was a big game...
ahh well, the injury report system is iffy. Didn't Belichick say something about not being a doctor, or...
Actually, I believe losing a game would make the rest of the season easier, but not for the "pressure of going undefeated" baloney. It's entirely to do with the other teams, who come out with all guns blazing to be the one to take down the unbeaten team.
(returning from Buc-land)
I still cannot believe that after the gift safety gave them the ball back when Tampa had no time outs, the Saints decide that the best play to run is a double-reverse. WTF? Most bizzare coaching decision of the day. But thanks, guys. By giving us the win, we've got a...
