Ah, man, that still stinks. Thanks for the link though - -I thought I heard Steve Burton say on TV this a.m. the break was in a different spot than the previous one, but wasn't sure.

I'd bet he could have gone 200 plays without landing just right to make that happen. Instead, bam .. one play.

It had to be related, though. Didn't he have the break put together with hardware?

Ughhhhh, as someone with a big plate in my arm, I've always worried about this crap happening.

Absolutely... he could have gone to win the Superbowl, and break his forearm in the off-season, hand-spinning one of his porn star girlfriends.... :) But, no, it had to be on his first reception attempt of the post season.... :(

Hope this double-fracture doesn't compromise his playing abilities down the road. :(

It's unquestionably related; the new injury was essentially caused by the earlier repair. But it wasn't a matter of timing or "rushing him back." He was healed, he just happened to fall in exactly the wrong way.

From what I've read it WAS related. The repair and cast results in increased stress points further down the arm. It's simple physics.

I guess the nature of the reports is to affirm that Gronk wasn't brought back "too early" per se - just the dumb luck of landing on his arm the way he did caused a new break.

None of that really matters to the team - they'll have to do a better job overcoming his loss than they did last year. And this year their added depth gives them a much better chance of doing that.
