Gun-Toting Soccer Mom

Remember Melanie Hain, the "gun-toting soccer mom" from Pennsylvania who ran a day care center and who successfully sued the sheriff when he had her permit to carry revoked when the other parents complained and has been proudly carrying her 9mm Glock on her hip ever since?

She died yesterday.....shot to death by her husand in front of their three kids. Her husband then turned the gun on himself and committed suicide.

Yes, indeed, having a gun in the house makes you sooooo much safer.

Marrying/living with someone who is a nutcase is what makes you unsafe.

Please note - Not arguing for or against guns.

Didn't work out for her, huh?

Too bad the kids weren't packing. I'm sure they'll be fine and turn out OK when they grow up.

Ok....that was strange.

This story showed up as "current news" on my AOL pop-up news screen this morning and I assumed it was, as advertised, current.

My bad.

I should have looked at the date of the story - which was 2009.

It doesn't make her any less dead, of course, nor does it negate the fact that a woman who believed in "self-protection" in the form of a Glock on her hip and a shotgun in her hand ended up dying by a gun and that nothing she carried on her hip or in her hand was able to prevent that from occuring - in fact, it may have led to it.

It does, however, make it old news.

Sorry 'bout that.
