Time for Patriots Nation to ease up on the overreactions to Brandon Lloyd

Time for Patriots Nation to ease up on the overreactions to Brandon Lloyd
By: John Morgan

Lloyd did indeed have only one reception in Miami, but that was just one game; he's on pace for 67 receptions, 748 yards, and 45 first downs. There is no need to even think about Braylon Edwards or some of the other suggestions...

How about it's time for Patriot Nation to ease up on the overreactions to just about everything.

More like time for the media drama queens to ease up. They are the ones that start all this nonsense then people that are bored at work or at home pick up on it and repeat it.

Lloyd has been a big improvement at that position from last year. I would be willing to bet he comes up with a clutch catch for us in a big game before all is said and done.

I guess you're not seeing the irony in your response.

Edit:
Or maybe I don't

The thing is people's expectations of Brandon Lloyd were way off-base. He's never been a fast guy, he's never had the ability to threaten a defense deep. He's a strong receiver who struggles to get separation but can make tough catches on the sidelines. That's it. And that's who he has been. He's a complimentary piece, fans were thinking he'd be Reggie Wayne or Greg Jennings for this team. He isn't that kind of player. If he were, he wouldn't have signed a 3 year, 12 million dollars deal here.

Hasn't this overreaction been happened since before Lloyd even played his first game in a Pats uni?

It seems like the fanbase has been divided over Lloyd since day 1. One faction presumed that if Lloyd can get 90 receptions from Sam Bradford; then he'll be lights out with Brady. The other half of the fanbase thought that since Lloyd was a #1 in STL, but would now presumably the 4th target behind (Wes, Gronk, Hernandez) that his stats would dip quite a bit.

Personally? I think he's doing just fine. He's a damn good 4th target. Defenses cannot just ignore him to double Gronk or Welker (like they could in 2011). If they do? Lloyd can take advantage. He's legit.

This is where I'll disagree. Defenses have been selling out to take away Welker/Gronk/Hernandez since day 1, and Lloyd hasn't shown he can make them pay yet.
