Would the Patriots draft Tyrann Mathieu?

The kid has issues and is actually small for a position that is getting bigger.

If they do draft him it'll be in the later rounds and his leash will be about as long as a toothpick.

He certainly isn't going to be a outside corner in the NFL but he is a playmaker. Could be a really great slot cornerback though with the ability to make plays in all over the field.

It is a shame. If the kept his head on right he would have become the most highly decorated DB in college football history.

But at the pro-level, they have his 40 time at a 4.51 so hes not and elite athlete per se but as you say the kid makes plays all over the field and a player is either around the ball a lot and make plays or they are not.

Honey Badger was exciting to watch...just not sure how good of a pro prospect he is...

I hope they'd at least give him a look. Kids got talent coming out the wazoo.

Well, he fits the fumble-forcing theme of this defense

Reminds me of a much more talented Sterling Moore. 5'9, 4.5+ 40 yard dash. Not an NFL Caliber athlete to be an outside CB, but he has a place on defense with that playmaking ability. I'd take a flyer on him.

I think he'd be a perfect nickel back. Arrington is a fa and will probably want more money than he is worth. Honey Badger can probably fill that role and he's an outstanding punt returner. I'd take him in the 3rd if he's available.

Draft him as an elite special teamer and take it from there.

No way. Odds are this guy will get in trouble again before draft day. His immaturity and self destruction is way up on the danger scale. I don't care how talented he is, he would be a waste of a 7th rounder at this point unless he finds his path.

The thing that bothers me the most about the kid is his nfl future is disappearing right before his eyes and he still makes bad decisions and hangs with the wrong crowd. He is lost and in need of a positive mentor and I hope he finds him or her soon. I don't care if he is an nfl player or not, I'd like him to atleast get a degree out of this mess.
