Re: Jordon
Two immediate reactions:
1) 2,000 people, eh? 2) It's 2012. They have every right to question why the leader of their country is chosen through birth. |
Re: Jordon
Democracy sucks. So problematic.

2,000 doesn't do it. The question is whether or not this all has to be a repeat of the 1950s Arab Nationalist tsunami, with pan-Islamic fundamentalism playing the featured role. As always, watching with interest. PFnV |
Re: Jordon
2,000 is not all that impressive a number. Especially when you consider Jordan has a population of 5 1/2 million. 2,000 people showed up to protest -that means 5,598,000 stayed home.
Heck, there were close to 1,000 that showed up for The Big Bird March in DC. http://www.alternet.org/files/story_...puppetsign.jpg |
Re: Jordon
Of all the autocratic countries in the region, Jordan might have the most stability. That said, even 2,000 is a little surprising in a country where the domestic intelligence and security apparatus is usually very good at shutting down even the slightest discontent.
I don't anticipate much will come of this but it's interesting nonetheless. |

Psst, "Jordan." No snark intended... just the standard editorial geek public service announcement.
