Pats Fans, Don't Jump Off The Ledge

Pats Fans, Don't Jump Off The Ledge
By: Derek Havens

Six weeks into the 2012 NFL season and whoa, what a roller coaster it has been so far. Talk about your ups and downs for a football the team. The Patriots, sitting in a four-team tie in the AFC East, are at a surprising 3-3 record heading into week seven....

No worries here bro! I'm not about to be jumpin off Throgsneck Bridge anytime soon. 3 losses were all winable. Combined losses of a total of 4 points. Pat's stop makin brain dead decisions & bein cute just go for'da jugular they would be in better shape. A missed field goal here and a missed timeout there and we're talkin about bein 4-2 and Jets would be an after thought. Comeback vs Bills is no fluke and a perfectly executed offensive plan vs P.Manning led Broncos team is what this team is capable of week in and week out. Secondary is another story. GO OUT put a 40 burger on Jets and end this by half time.

I am not worried either. Heck, the 2001 team went 11-5 and won the Superbowl.

Besides, as someone who has been wearing the laundry since 1974, I'm not about to throw in the towel anytime soon. There's still a few more miles down the highway of winning before Belichick and Brady reach their exit ramp.

Only bandwagoners are jumping right now

I still think its up to two areas of the team to decide the fate of the Pats and how far they will go

1) Brady and the offense MUST score AT LEAST 20 points to win any games this year .....this team, like it has been of years,is not made for defensive battles,17-14 games are rare in New England.

2) The pass rush must do better in giving a horrendous secondary a chance to keep up with receivers and gain on the gap of seperation that they are so bad at,if the pass rush doesn't get to the QB,90% of the time it ends up as a large gain or TD

The secondary is what it is,I don't expect a major improvement simply because these guys are not bonafide starters and would all be backups on most teams,so on defense you must rely on the front 7 to save the day.

sports talk radio has been off the chains this week, and entertaining. I have heard so many extremes ... "trade Brady to K.C. for Dwayne Bowe" .. "BB is a fraud", "BB is no defensive Rex Ryan", "Brady is just too old" , "Why doesn't Kraft step and fire the defensive staff" , "Eli would run circles around Brady" .. I'm not sure if in the 2007 SB loss people's reaction was this extreme. Not to say I am not frustrated .. Yes I am, my frustration is that most of us can actually call out exactly the scenarios on how things are gonna go down to blow the game .. We have seen it over n over n over n over, time after time for the past few years .. offense can not close out games / defense blows it in the end .. it truly is Insanity .... How are some of these folks gonna handle the post TFB-BB era ..? Imagine having this board in the early 90's .... Oh my:bricks:

This one existed on an old system starting in 1998 before I finally moved it to my own server, but unfortunately we only go back to '05 because the former host had a corrupted database that I had to repair but one of the tables lost data that I couldn't recover.

As far as those old posts from the Carroll era...I wish I had access to it so people could look at the difference. People didn't freak out anywhere near as bad as they do now after a loss. They haven't had a losing season during this entire BB/Brady era. Back then it was no big deal when they lost because the expectations were lower. Funny what perspective can do

Ah yes....... the heady days of Zeke Mowatt, Irving Fryer, and Terry Glen.... the Patriots should have been up for Emmy awards for best soap opera.

I go back to the very beginning in 1960 and I think I'm most often a glass-full type of guy. But this secondary scares the living $%^& out of me. I never, ever thought I'd see a worse one than last year's on a BB team, but right now this one is worse. I hold out hope that things can change and I hope they do. We'll see.
