Ahern spotted in locker room.... no limp or boot

What do you think the odds for playing this Sunday are?

I imagine the boot is used to keep pressure off the sprain while the swelling goes down... that doesn't mean once the boot isn't needed that there isn't still damage there, or that the threat of re-injury doesn't exist. Besides, walking through a locker room and making a sharp cut on the field are completely different things.

If it was the SB he'd play like Gronk did and by play like Gronk did I mean both suit up but be ineffective due to the injury. Luckily it's week 4 so they'll continue to let him heal.

they will not rush him back onto the field. Unless he is 100%, he won't play. Our offense scored 30 points against a very good defense on the road without him. We should be ok until he is healthy. Plus I liked what I saw from Winslow, who with another week of practice should get more reps this week. If he can become a larger role over the next few weeks, Hernandez won't be back until the Jets game or after the bye.

He was in the locker room yesterday too. From ESPN Boston Blog yesterday:

Quote:

Hernandez spotted again. Tight end Aaron Hernandez was spotted near the entrance of the locker room, keeping it light in a brief exchange with reporters awaiting locker room access. Hernandez was not wearing anything around his injured right ankle, which could perhaps be seen as a sign that he is coming along. He previously has been spotted with a protective walking boot.

This might be a good sign that he might be practicing next week and possibly returning by the Jets game, if not sooner (although I doubt they will make his first game back a road game in Seattle).

No business rushing the guy back. Pretty amazing and fortunate, though, that the injury wasn't worse. I figured that was insta-IR when I saw it on TV.

The sprain was prob not as bad as people thought. The guy is young, so its not surprising he bounced back quickly. I will be shocked if it takes a full 6 weeks for him to return.

Correct. I am very good at walking thru locker rooms.
Making a cut on the field that separates me from an NFL defender, not so much.

This is a good sign. They should take this slow and put more in for Kellen Winslow, Jr. He was moving well in the Ravens games and is a warrior. Getting Hernandez back later in the season is fine with the receiving corps Brady has to work with. Lloyd, Welker, Branch, Gronkowski and Winslow is pretty formidable.
