Hard to gauge living in RI ... with our in the toilet economy.
However ... I would think $150,000 around here puts you in middle class. Perhaps the $200,000 in the Boston area and $250,000 in the NY City area. What do you think about those numbers? How can one number represent the entire country? |

I've never considered middle class as wealthy though I am sure many in this country would. Would be so much easier to eliminate the long form and just have 4 tax categories and go from there ... keep the each child deduction then: 50K - 100K - Below Middle Class 100K - 150K - Lower Middle Class. 150K - 250K - Middle Class +250K ... Upper Middle Class to rich Now put rates on each of those .......... |

This may be off topic but come next year, there are two sacred deductions that they may review and reduce/eliminate, child deduction and mortgage interest/taxes.....It's just a matter or time when it joins Social Security as no longer being " the third rail".......Gonna happen......No matter WHO gets elected. |
